Cowboyway fed me drunk chicken, it is very moist. I think perhaps marinating the whole chicken for a goodly period prior to mounting its corpse so indecorously upon the can would lend flavor to the breast other than that of moist chicken.
I was thinking it might be good to put wine in the can instead of beer, but, I am not sure it would have the same result. I would imagine there may be some chemical reaction other than the steam, but, maybe not.
Definitely put a crushed garlic clove or twelve in the can prior to cooking. At the least. I was also thinking of stuffing some onions in the cavity on top of the can.
As you can see, I have put a bit of thought into this.
Hey, Fierce, don't forget to give your freedom defending cousin a big kiss for me. On the mouth. With feeling.

I'm not letting AJ do my FFRL picks! Besides, he barks incessantly at fire & tries to eat fireworks. None too bright.

One summer, years ago, Pete-R-Bilt and I were sitting in my back yard enjoying the shade, drinking cold beer, and lighting fireworks. My backup labrador at the time, Cujo, was the self designated fireworks prevention dog. Everytime a firecracker went off, the dog went nuts... he chased it down to the spot where it had exploded... just a pile of paper shreds and smoke. It got to the point we had to wait for the dog to be looking away, or until he wandered off toward the deck before we lit any more fireworks, because we were afraid he'd get to one before it blew up. This went on for a couple hours, light a firecracker, dog goes nuts and chases a pile of shreds and smoke. A week later, Pete dropped by on a weekend afternoon. We sat in the lawn chairs in the shade with a cold beer, forgetting that Cujo, the ever vigilant fireworks prevention dog, was on duty. Pete struck his lighter to light a cigarette, and Cujo bolted across the yard, took the lighter out of his hand, and bolted with it. LOL. Paybacks. Maybe non traditional, but, yes, you can train your dog to do nearly anything with enough patience, enough explosives, and enough beer.

LOL good suggestion - I forgot to mention that part.
Good idea about adding garlic and onion into the beer can! Let me know how it works.

Yep, I liked the heavy steel box park grills by the lake so much that I bought a Pilot Rock of my own, mounted on a pole on the back porch.
It doesn't have a lid for smoking or slow cooking, so I have another old charcoal grill for that.

I'm headed up to visit my "Other Mother".
She lives in a small community that has a "parade" in the morning and fireworks at night. See attached for pix of the Parade. In the evening, we have a lovely "Just Desserts" party and watch the fireworks.

I plan on stopping by the old folks home & seeing my mom & dad. They live about 20 minutes from where I am taking my kids for swim camp (competition, not just to teach them to swim).

Share recipes, plans for the weekend, etc here. I don't know what we'll eat, but the weekend will primarily involve keeping my dogs and horses sedated while my neighbors get their thrills lighting off explosives and destroying the peace.
I love my country, but I hate the fourth of July. I did even before I had animals, and hate it even more now.

To each his/her own. If I had a heard of critters like you, I may well feel the same. OTOH, I have always loved the 4th and Independence Day celebrations.

Even before I had a bunch of animals, I didn't like personal fireworks... They've always scared me... I always thought those little zippy things that buzz around were gonna get me as a kid. I used to enjoy the big commercial displays, but I can't go to them now, with concerns at home.
Earlier dogs didn't mind them so much, but the ones I have now are both unbearable, for opposite reasons. One barks and runs like a mad dog, would attack them if she could get out... the other crawls in my lap and claws at me, which is not fun with a 100 pound dog.
Compared to them, the horses are easier... mild sedatives in their stalls and they'll be OK.
The dogs, I'll put in a coma when it gets bad. And then maybe I'll try the same for myself. It went till 1 am last year. I wish it lasted a few hours, not random disruptions over the course of a week.
