Butchart Gardens was a wonderful place to visit. The flowers were beautiful. The butterflies and the birds added to our enjoyment.

We didn't do any of that jumping stuff. Since I can't fly, I'm a coward. :)

After Butchart Gardens outside Victoria, its bungy jumping is well worth visiting, especially if you want to take the 140' plunge from a bridge high above a deep pool of river water.

LOL, are you kidding? No bungy jumping for me, thanks.

The Butchart Gardens' pics are absolutely gorgeous.

Evening Amy and everybody.

Happy Primrose Day!

Hope to see you later, Tulip. :-)

A God Of Absolutes

Read:
Malachi 3:6-12

I am the Lord, I do not change. -Malachi 3:6

Bible In One Year: Psalm 28-30

cover I am dubious about the accuracy of our bathroom scale. So I've learned to manipulate it in a self-satisfying manner. The little adjustment knob serves to vary the register, and if that becomes too much bother, I just lean a certain way. The idea is to get a favorable reading-hopefully one that is a few pounds less.

We live in an age when many people believe there are no absolutes. Self-serving behavior is rampant and tramples the moral law given for the protection of society. Our culture prides itself on "freedom" that is actually slavery to sin (Romans 6:16-17).

But there is a God of absolutes whose scales never lose their adjustment. With Him, a pound is a pound, right is right, and wrong is wrong. He says, "I am the Lord, I do not change" (Malachi 3:6).

For us as believers, this puts steel into our spiritual backbone. We gain confidence in the face of difficulty and are assured of the fulfillment of every divine promise.

If God were easily moved by every whim or notion, our eternal destiny would be in constant jeopardy. But because He is the Unchanging One, we "are not consumed" (v.6). "His compassions fail not. They are new every morning" (Lamentations 3:22-23). -Paul Van Gorder

Unchanging God who reigns above,
His truth remains forever;
And from this faithful God of love
No earthly trial can sever. -D. De Haan

Earth changes, but God and His Word stand sure! -Browning

In the men's room, an accountant, a lawyer and a farmer were standing side by side using the urinal. The accountant finished, zipped up and started washing and literally scrubbing his hands...clear up to his elbows....he held about 20 paper towels before he finished. He turned to the other two men and commented, "I graduated from Harvard and they taught us to be sanitary."

The lawyer finished, zipped up, went to the sink and quickly wet the tips of his fingers, grabbed one paper towel and commented, "I graduated from UC Berkeley and they taught us to be environmentally conscious."

The farmer zipped up and as he was walking directly out the door said, "I graduated from West Virginia University and they taught us not to pee on our fingers."

LIMA BEANS

Lima beans originated in Peru (or possibly Guatemala). They have been cultivated in Peru since 6000 B.C., and their common name comes from Lima, Peru's capital city.

Lima beans (a.k.a. chad beans) contain cyanide compounds, which is why many countries, including the U.S., restrict commercially grown varieties to those with very low cyanogen levels. The lima beans grown in Java and Burma have 20 to 30 times the concentration allowed in most Western countries. They must be cooked thoroughly to allow the hydrogen cyanide gas produced to be driven off.

Large Lima Bean are large and flat with a greenish-white color. It has a buttery flavor and creamy texture. The baby variety is much loved in Japan for making desserts from bean paste known as "an."

A little respect, please.
