Christ's Unfinished Work

Read:
Hebrews 7:23-8:2

He always lives to make intercession for them. -Hebrews 7:25

Bible In One Year: Psalm 19-21

cover We often hear of the salvation Christ provided at Calvary when He died for our sins. But little is said of His continuing ministry of prayer for our spiritual growth. Just as Jesus prayed for Peter in a time of severe temptation (Luke 22:31-32), so also He intercedes before the Father's throne on our behalf. This vital work of the Savior will go on as long as we are in need of His help, comfort, and blessing.

Robert Murray McCheyne, the beloved Scottish minister of the 19th century, wrote, "If I could hear Christ praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a million enemies. Yet the distance makes no difference. He is praying for me!"

During a deep personal crisis, I realized the truth of Hebrews 7 in a new and wonderful way. Satan seemed to be attacking me on every side. So I asked the Lord to plead for me. The next day the problem was solved, and I knew it was the Lord's special intervention. Never before had I been so conscious of the Savior's high-priestly ministry (8:1).

If you are having great difficulty, tell Jesus about it. He will present your needs to the Father. Through His intercessory work, you'll experience the remarkable results that only His prayers can accomplish. -Henry Bosch

In the hour of trial, Jesus, plead for me,
Lest, by base denial, I depart from Thee;
When Thou seest me waver, with a look recall;
Nor for fear or favor suffer me to fall. -Montgomery

Satan is powerless against the power of Christ's prayer.

Painting Nature

I’d love to be an artist
With paint brush in my hand
Painting all of natures beauty
Seen in sky and sea and land.
I’d begin with a morning sunrise
Using soft and golden hues
Then add a touch of crimson
With grays fading into blues.
I’d capture roses kissed with dew
Sparkling in the morning light,
nd upon my canvas I’d form
The shape of Geese in flight.
I’d paint a colorful meadow
As it comes to life in spring,
And a nest of Robins so lifelike
You could almost hear them sing.
I’d paint an awesome waterfall
Cascading to a lake below
And far off on the horizon,
Mountain peaks capped with snow.
I’d paint mighty ocean waves
And a lighthouse on the shore,
All these things I would paint,
These and so much more.
But since I'm not an artist,
On down life's path I’ll trod
Ever in awe of natures beauty,
Painted by the hand of God.

Good afternoon, MoJo.

How about some music for our Cowboy as we continue to pray for his recovery. How about "What a Friend" or "How Great Thou Art"?

He is in our thoughts and prayers.

Good afternoon, OESY.

I hope you will stop by after your walk today and let us know how you fared.

We would love to see a picture of two.

I'm not being a Nosy Neighbor, but I hope you reached your goal in the Walk for MS today.

Give Mrs OESY our love.

Thanks for your inquiry about today's MS Walk in NYC. I'll have to wait for the reports to come in, but the turnout was huge, perhaps numbering in the thousands -- although my pictures below don't show the crowd size as we got ahead of the pack. We hiked about 8-10 miles through the canyons of lower Manhattan and along the Hudson River to raise money for MS research.
