Sheesh. I wish you would get the quote right. It was from My Fair Lady,
wasn't it: "Move your Blooming Iris"? By George, I think I've got it.

Special Delivery

Please sign for this delivery, the stuff is right outside.
I’d like to say, it was a joy to take it for a ride.
This stuff’s been here so long, we though it’d never sell.
My boss was pleased you bought it all, he thinks you sure are swell.

We sent those sample poems, you said you wanted more,
Two million, nine eighty-five, nine hundred eighty-four.
We almost ran completely out, the numbers came out close.
We did the math, and packed it up. You ordered gross, gross, gross.

I wish someone would step and make the decision to evaluate her. I do not trust the husband and do not think he should make decisions regarding her care.

Awww, cute. Thank you for the update.

Hi PAL. You're welcome.

You know, I shouldn't have allowed myself to get so attached to them because now, if I don't see them for a day or two, I worry. They are just Jays after all, some of the meanest birds around, but I feel like they are mine. I've watched them grow up from little scrawny fledglings into beautiful adult birds. There were three babies, but something happened to one of them, we never knew what became of him.

"I like your postings, especially the birds."

Thanks...... Hey, is that little kitten stalking my birds, OESY? She doesn't have a chance of catching one of them. LOL! Besides, my Jays are almost as big as she is. ;-)

Hope you are enjoying spring. :)

Well, I'm sure I would be, if it would get here. LOL! I am soooo cold all the time. It is long past time for it to start warming up. It feels like winter is never going to end. :-(

That Kildeer is a beautiful bird. Yes, I have seen one protecting her nest. I thought the poor bird was injured, she was flopping around like she had a broken wing. The closer I got to her the worse she carried on. Then, when I backed away from her, she stood up and acted like she was just fine. She wasn't injured at all....she had a nest nearby. I never saw the nest, but this feigned injury was all a big act to distract me!

Isn't nature fascinating?

I would love to see photos of your Kildeer nest and eggs. Is their nest on the ground? That doesn't seem like a good place to build a nest, does it?

The iris picture is from last year. They are not blooming yet this year.

Some of mine are blooming. I will see if I can get a picture of them tomorrow.

Those irises that you posted are just beautiful!

BTW, got your freepmail, and no.....it hasn't arrived. Maybe you want to try sending it again?

Kildeers build their nests on the ground. Sure doesn't seem very safe to me.

We don't usually see them nesting this close to our house. JAjr put a flag out so we wouldn't accidently step on the eggs. Marissa is very curious about those birds. I tell her everyday to leave them alone.

I should be able to get a picture of the nest; I hope I will be able to get a picture after the eggs hatch. I'm not sure how long before the little ones start taking off like the adults. I hope they are not like quail.

After about 2 days you cannot catch baby quail. They are fast little guys. :) Years ago, my mother found a quail nest after a field had been plowed. She brought the eggs home and put them under a setting hen. When the quail eggs hatched the babies took off. :( I bet that hen wondered what the heck happened to her babies. :)

Working The Land

What part does the insect play in this scene?
Does it repel you somewhat from the food?
She has worked all the year for the feast you have here,
Just as if you were part of her brood.

As the Sun came up in the Springtime,
When the frost was still on the leaf,
She was planning her rounds for the buds she had found,
And then you come along like a thief!

She worked all the day on the blossoms,
She observed as the fruit swelled with pride,
So please have a care for the “bug” sitting there,
You’ve been working the land side-by-side.
