"This is a British story. The actors should be British." So far from what I have seen the dialogue of the one British Character (Arthur) sounds and Acts VERY British.
Being that most of the movie has nothing whatsoever to do with Britan why would the rest of the actors need to be British?
Especially since they are from other planets.

Because it's a British story? ;)

"Because it's a British story? ;)" Ahh OK, so if DNA had written The Hitchikers Guide to Mexico then all the Mexican parts in the movie should be played by British Actors because, of course, it is a British story...
Yes, I see the logic in that.

...more popular than the Celestial Home Care Omnibus, better selling than Fifty-three More Things to Do in Zero Gravity, and more controversial than Oolon Colluphid's trilogy of philosophical blockbusters, Where God Went Wrong, Some More of God's Greatest Mistakes and Who is This God Person Anyway?

Except the Vogons, who sound Scottish.

Except for their poetry, which sounds... Clintonian...Except for the end of every third sentence, which sounds North Korean and usually includes the word 'ronery'.

I noticed Alan Rickman is the voice of Marvin in this movie (Warwick Davis is credited as the guy in the android suit). Alan and Mos Def also acted together in 'Something the Lord Made', which looks to be quite a departure from this movie.
Another connection- Alan and Sam Rockwell acted together in Galaxy Quest.

"Another connection- Alan and Sam Rockwell acted together in Galaxy Quest." Sam was the best part of Galaxy Quest with Rickman being a close second.
