The Golfing Bug

Golf has to be the most frustrating game
as no two rounds are ever the same
some balls you hook and some you slice
and neither options very nice
occasionally, you hit one straight
but usually, for this you wait
and when you hit that one so sweet
the feeling you get is really neat
you start to think your Tiger or Jack
A sublime golfer, not your usual crack
that ten foot putt, that mighty blow
you know will bring your score so low
but reality strikes, quick as can be
as if the gods are laughing at thee
then trying and trying to duplicate
and when you can't you get irate
eighteen holes of pure frustration
the nineteenth there for lubrication
and still you play like a proper mug
I'll welcome you to the golfing bug

Good afternoon, IA.

I don't play but my hubby and my son do. From what I've heard and seen, this seemed the perfect description.

Can you tell that I'm having trouble with Potpourri Day? ;~)

Golfing eh? Hmmmm. Not really in my list of activities. Too much trouble getting the ball through that stupid windmill I guess. :)

From the San Francisco Herb Co. ......

The art of making Potpourri is a delightful experience.
Instructions: Measure out all dry ingredients and blend by hand in large non-metallic bowl or paper grocery bag. With a pipette, gradually add fragrance oil to potpourri. We suggest about 1/4 to 1/2 fl oz per 16 cups potpourri (approx. 1 gallon), depending on strength of oil. You can scent such fixatives as orris root, calamus root and cellulose fiber separately and blend with dry ingredients later.

Note: Dyed potpourri items should be blended after potpourri is scented to prevent color from bleeding. Fixatives such as oak moss, orris root, calamus root, cellulose, citrus peels and spices help absorb, preserve and release the fragrance of your blend. After blending and scenting potpourri, fill wide-mouth jars or non-metallic containers 3/4 full, cover tightly and store in cool dark place. Check fragrance after several days and add more scent if desired. Cure (let scents mingle and mellow) for 2 to 6 weeks.

Happy Potpourri Day!!

My problem is, I think, related to my stance ... I tend to stand a little too close to the ball...

... after it is struck.

Sorry I missed most of Potpourri Day. I was hoping to be on earlier, but that just didn't happen...

On golf, I'm mostly a duffer, but a few years ago I got a hole in one. Unfortunately, it was a tarantula hole in the middle of the fairway and I never found the ball.

But I declared victory anyway, and have hardly played since. I thought it important not to peak too soon; that is, to go out at the top of my game -- which despite the circumstances wasn't too difficult.

LOL

I've tried hitting the ball down a long dirt road. I didn't do very well. I could hit it in our driveway and not hit anything except a sprinkler head. :)

Happy Potpourri Day!

Good afternoon, Tulip.

I've been having trouble with finding Potpourri, so I just went with potpourri.

Party Dance

Flowers dance in party dresses,
Insects nuzzle their perfume,
They do this in gardens so that,
We don’t have to leave the room.

It isn’t birds and bees, you know,
We need to learn about.
These sexy petaled trollops,
Gayly flaunt their wares about.

So shamelessly these hussies,
With color and aroma,
Set out to prove that to succeed,
They’ll need no school diploma.

My wife used the weedwhacker,
On bluebells one fine day.
She crashed their jolly party.
I took her tool away.

I forgive their merriment,
Their careless happy airs,
Because at night they bow their heads,
And say their silent prayers.
