The Letter Thief
The Letter Thief is watching,
He will steal them from you.
First he doesnt take too much,
He only steals a few.
Then you find hes taking words,
And scrambles them around.
Its really such a bother,
When this guy is in town.
LadyX has got his pic,
He is an ugly cuss.
We really need to catch him,
And put him on the bus.
The bus that goes to DU,
He is welcome there.
They cant spell or even think,
They never wash their hair.
Or change their socks, brush their teeth,
Just filth and lies they spew.
On second thought lets keep him here,
He only steals a few.

Since we're celebrating Poetry/Poet's Day this time, the next time there are no official holidays, we should celebrate "Potpourri Day." :-)

Hi, darlin' ((((((((Sis))))))
This is probably the silliest poem ever written, I writ it some time ago. Be kind. LOL
How To Get Your Aigs Cooked With A Side Dish Of Love
I brung home some bacon and a dozen aigs -
And told wife to git to the stove -
To make me some breakfast and real black coffee -
And she told me NO!, by jove -
My brain went to reelin' from what I was feelin' -
'Cause she ain't never said no before -
I guessed she was havin' one of her spells -
So I turned and went out the door -
I took my bacon and dozen aigs -
Down to the local cafe -
And asked waitress Shirley if she'd be so kind -
To fix my breakfast that day -
With a whoop and a holler she grabbed my collar -
And asked if I'd done gone plumb nuts -
I told her no - though I was a stranglin' -
Because on my neck I had fingernail cuts -
She told me women are more than just cooks -
That they needed some hard lovin' too -
Well, it got me to thankin' so I gathered my aigs up -
And run right home to my sweety poo -
I kissed my wife 'till her hair was on fire -
And since her hair was on fire ...
I cooked my bacon and a few of my aigs -
I dare anyone to call me a liar

I think the last time I wrote a poem was in high school as an assignment. It was about my cat that I had at the time. I wish I could remember it. I just remember that it took me *forever* to write the poem. LOL! Writing analytical papers are much easier for me.

How about a little ee cummings for people who are too lazy to hit the shift for caps? Plus this one reminds me of my hometown (I grew up in a pretty how town).
anyone lived in a pretty how town
(with up so floating many bells down)
spring summer autumn winter
he sang his didn't he danced his did
women and men (both little and small)
cared for anyone not at all
they sowed their isn't they reaped their same
sun moon stars rain
children guessed (but only a few
and down they forgot as up they grew
autumn winter spring summer)
that noone loved him more by more
when by now and tree by leaf
she laughed his joy she cried his grief
bird by snow and stir by still
anyone's any was all to her
someones married their everyones
laughed their cryings and did their dance
(sleep wake hope and then) they
said their nevers they slept their dream
stars rain sun moon
(and only the snow can begin to explain
how children are apt to forget to remember
with up so floating many bells down)
one day anyone died i guess
(and noone stooped to kiss his face)
busy folk buried them side by side
little by little and was by was
all by all and deep by deep
and more by more they dream their sleep
noone and anyone earth by april
wish by spirit and if by yes.
women and men (both dong and ding)
summer autumn winter spring
reaped their sowing and went their came
sun moon stars rain
ee cummings

Good morning, AG
Happy Poetry Day!

ROSES
You love the roses - so do I. I wish
The sky would rain down roses, as they rain
From off the shaken bush. Why will it not?
Then all the valley would be pink and white
And soft to tread on. They would fall as light
As feathers, smelling sweet; and it would be
Like sleeping and like waking, all at once!

Time Is Given
Here my last day before I cross, a magic, mystic river,
You want more time? Here, have some more,
Time rolls by so lazily, so generous a giver.
Take all that you may choose, and care not for,
The ways that you may use. It is a gift.
Its yours to do with as you may,
No green-eyeshaded clerk will sift,
And sort reports about your day.
Time is given, like sunshine, unending in its glory,
Expanding all around you everywhere.
As you work to write your story,
Be sure to contemplate your words with care.
An ocean of time has flowed by me,
The source seems just as fresh.
Ive loved the dance and company,
And other pleasures of the flesh.
I have enjoyed the quiet times.
Ive read ten thousand books,
And music thats wrapped up in rhymes,
And treasured sultry looks.
The gift of time that I have had,
Is like a tool of sorts,
So carefully the good and bad,
I put in my reports.
I know youve read them, and enjoyed,
My childlike glee to write them.
Despite the skill I have employed,
Dont ask me to recite them.
They stretch back like the days gone past,
In all the varied ways I trod,
I did not think they long would last,
But I have marked the trail I plod.
Tomorrow starts another trail,
Adventure waits once more.
I think Ill find myself a sail,
When I reach the final shore.
