Happy Have Fun at Work Day!

Good evening, Victoria. I hope you are having a good week.

I enjoyed putting today's pictures and text together.
After I finished it, I took a nap. :~)

Free posted this to me...just in case you "skip by it" think it's worth noting again. I never would have expected anything less....Hope someday to meet you all too

Dutchess: yes, we did have fun. But I have to tell you, the best part for me is that they were so nice and normal! I mean it's the internet, and even if you THINK you know someone's personality, until you actually MEET them you really don't. But Mama_Bear and JustAmy are just the same in person as they are online. I think they're just as sweet as the Ritz-Carlton desert tray.

"as sweet as the Ritz-Carlton dessert tray."

Now my teeth hurt. :)

Thank you for those nice words, Freezie.

Dutchess ... thank you for passing on that wonderful compliment.

Yes, I saw that picture. I had forgotten that you took it.

Marissa was purely delightful! She was very friendly and imaginative. And energetic...

You are taking your vitamins, aren't you?

Thank you, dutchess. I would have missed her sweet compliment.

FReezie is so much fun, we throughly enjoyed our time with her and she treated us like celebrities.

We are looking forward to coming back out to DC in '09, happy to hear you are planning to come too! I am hoping maybe next time JK can come with me.

Cure For The Winter Blues

Are you feeling blue? Has winter got you down?
Do you hate the cold and all that snow on the ground?
Well cheer up everyone I've got good news.
Spring is on the way to cure those winter blues.
There will be nothing but sunshine and warm weather ahead.
No more white the world will be green instead.
Flowers blooming, birds singing, love will be in the air.
And maybe a little rain here and there.
We need a little water to wash the earth clean.
That is what's so wonderful about spring.
So please try to be patient and in a little while.
Those blues will turn to yellow as the sun greets you with a smile.

The Call of Kansas

Surfeited here with beauty, and the sensuous-sweet perfume,
Borne in from a thousand gardens and orchards of orange-bloom
Awed by the silent mountains; stunned by the breakers roar,__
The restless ocean pounding and tugging away at the shore,__
I lie on the warm sand beach and hear, above the crys of the sea,
The voice of the prairie calling,
Calling me.

Sweeter to me than the salt sea spray, the fragrance of summer rains;
Nearer my heart than these mighty hills are the windswept
Kansas plains.
Dearer the sight of a shy, wild rose, by the roadside's dusty way,
Than all the splendor of poppy-fields, ablaze in the sun of May.
Gay as the bold poinsettia is and the wild burden of pepper trees,
The sunflower, tawny and gold and brown, is richer to me, than these.
And rising ever above the song of the hoarse insistent sea,
The voice of the prairie calling,
Calling me.

Kansas, beloved Mother, today in an alien land,
Yours is the name I have idly traced with a bit of wood in the sand,
The name, that, flung from a scornful lip, will make the hot blood start;
The name that is graven, hard and deep, on the core of my
loyal heart.
O, higher, clearer and stronger yet, than the boom of the savage sea,
The voice of the prairie calling,
Calling me.

~Esther M. (Clark) Hill~

Happy "Kansas Day"

Ice-Cream Man

Read: 1 Corinthians 10:1-13

Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. —2 Timothy 2:22

Bible In One Year: Exodus 5-7

Little Jeff was trying his best to save money to buy his mother a present. It was a terrible struggle because he gave in so easily to the temptation to buy goodies from the ice-cream man whenever the brightly colored van came through the neighborhood.

One night after his mother had tucked him in bed, she overheard him pray, "Please, God, help me run away when the ice-cream man comes tomorrow." Even at his young age he had learned that one of the best ways to overcome temptation is to avoid what appeals to our weaknesses.

All believers are tempted to sin. Yet they need not give in. The Lord provides the way to be victorious over evil enticements (1 Corinthians 10:13). But we must do our part. Sometimes that involves avoiding situations that would contribute to our spiritual defeat.

The apostle Paul admonished Timothy to run away from the evil desires of youth (2 Timothy 2:22). He was to keep his distance from the temptations that might cause him to yield because of their strong appeal. That's good advice.

If possible, we should never let ourselves be in the wrong places or with people who will tempt us to do the things we should be avoiding.

Be sure to run from the "ice-cream man"! —Richard De Haan

It's wise to flee when tempted—
A fool is one who'd stay;
For those who toy with evil
Soon learn it doesn't pay. —D. De Haan

We fall into temptation when we don't flee from it.

Good morning, Mayor. Thank you for all you bring to us.

It is cold this morning even tho the temp is at 41. I've had enough damp to last me forever. *grin*

Hope you're having a beautiful, warm weekend.

Sorry for correcting but I just couldn't help it! *grin*

We had so much fun in DC and Marissa will never forget the "dipping place" or the tea. She was completely entralled. How can we ever thank you? Please plan a trip to California. We would love to do something special for you.

I'm going to check out a tea room in Fresno. Maybe MamaBear will be able to join us. Wouldn't that be fun.

A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have
an oil shortage here in our country.

~~~
Well, there's a very simple answer.
~~~

Nobody bothered to check the oil.

~~~
We just didn't know we were getting low.
~~~

The reason for that is purely geographical.

~~~
Our OIL is located in
Alaska
California
Oklahoma and
TEXAS
Our DIPSTICKS are located in
Washington DC
A PLANE IS ON ITS WAY TO HOUSTON WHEN A BLONDE IN ECONOMY CLASS GETS UP AND MOVES TO THE FIRST CLASS SECTION AND SITS DOWN.
THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT WATCHES HER DO THIS AND ASKS TO SEE HER TICKET. SHE THEN TELLS THE BLONDE THAT SHE PAID FOR ECONOMY CLASS
AND THAT SHE WILL HAVE TO SIT IN THE BACK.
THE BLONDE REPLIES,
"I'M BLOND,
I'M BEAUTIFUL,
I'M GOING TO HOUSTON AND I'M STAYING RIGHT HERE."
THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT GOES INTO THE COCKPIT AND TELLS THE PILOT AND THE COPILOT THAT THERE IS A BLONDE SITTING IN FIRST CLASS THAT
BELONGS IN ECONOMY AND WON'T MOVE BACK TO HER SEAT.
THE COPILOT GOES BACK TO THE BLONDE AND TRIES TO EXPLAIN THAT BECAUSE SHE ONLY PAID FOR ECONOMY SHE WILL HAVE TO LEAVE AND RETURN TO HER SEAT.
THE BLONDE REPLIES,
"I'M BLONDE
I'M BEAUTIFUL,
I'M GOING TO HOUSTON AND I'M STAYING RIGHT HERE."
THE COPILOT TELLS THE PILOT THAT HE PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE THE POLICE WAITING WHEN THEY LAND TO ARREST THIS BLONDE WOMAN WHO WON'T LISTEN TO REASON.
THE PILOT SAYS, "YOU SAY SHE IS A BLONDE? I'LL HANDLE THIS. I'M MARRIED TO A BLONDE. I SPEAK BLONDE."
HE GOES BACK TO THE BLONDE AND WHISPERS IN HER EAR, AND SHE SAYS, "OH, I'M SORRY." AND SHE GETS UP AND GOES BACK TO HER SEAT IN ECONOMY.
THE FLIGHT ATTENDANT AND COPILOT ARE AMAZED AND ASKED HIM WHAT SAID TO MAKE HER MOVE WITHOUT ANY FUSS.
"I TOLD HER, FIRST CLASS ISN'T GOING TO HOUSTON
