Life's Good Times

Life's good times
I hold in memory
Times I seek comfort
in my mind these times I see

Looking back at the times
as youngsters you and me
Sat in the shadow
of an old oak tree

Played with our dolls
that we loved so
When momma called
we didn't wanna go

Many precious memories
that I totally recall
But being there with you
was the happiest moment of all

Friends

There's nothing as nice as someone who shares,
your laughter, your secrets, your wishes and cares,
someone who's there through your good times and tears,
who stays by your side as your friend through the years.

Winter Glory

Towering evergreens
Heavy laden with snow
Glisten in the morning sun
Casting their shadows on
The snowy pristine mountainside.

A Stone In The Mouth

Read: Proverbs 18:1-8

A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul. —Proverbs 18:7

Bible In One Year: Genesis 43-46

We would all cringe at the thought of a mouth full of gravel. But a stone in the mouth can actually be desirable—at least that seems to be true for the cranes that inhabit the Taurus mountains of southern Turkey.

These cranes tend to cackle a lot, especially while flying. All that noise gets the attention of eagles, who swoop down and seize them for a meal. The experienced cranes avoid this threat by picking up stones large enough to fill their mouths. This prevents them from cackling—and from becoming lunch for the eagles.

People have a problem with their mouths too. The writer of Proverbs said, "He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction" (13:3). "A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calls for blows" (18:6). How many of our troubles could be prevented if we would learn to control our tongues! How much of the heartache we cause others could be avoided if we would guard our speech!

Are you having a problem with your tongue? Try this: Ask the Lord for His help. Think before speaking. Let your words be few. Following that formula can be as effective as a stone in the mouth. —Richard De Haan

Lord, help me watch the words I say
And keep them few and sweet,
For I don't know from day to day
Which ones I'll have to eat. —Anon.

Mind what you say, or you might say whatever comes to mind.

We all, on occasion, suffer from "Foot N Mouth " disease.
It is best kept to a minimum. The wrong words are heavy, fattening, and high in cholesterol;)

Amy, tell the boys to close their eyes on this one...

NAVAJO WISDOM

"Susan was driving home from one of her teaching assignments in Northern Arizona when she saw an elderly Navajo woman walking on the side of the road.

As the trip was a long and quiet one, she stopped the car and asked the Navajo woman if she would like a ride. The woman climbed into the car and Susan resumed driving.

After a bit of small talk, the Navajo woman noticed a bag on the seat next to Susan. "What's in the bag?" asked the woman. Susan glanced at the bag and said: "It's a bottle of wine. I got it for my husband".

The Navajo woman was silent for a moment. Then speaking with the quiet wisdom of an elder said....."Good trade".

Cute!

What costume did you put on your cat?

How's the weather there? Out high today is supposed to be between 8-12, depending on who's telling it. One said our high for the day was reached at midnight, 9 degrees. Brrrrr....

My kitty probably won't get dressed up today, since I'm not at my parents' house. I'm back in my apartment.

I don't think I can dress up my fish...

Today its supposed to get up to 30 degrees. It's a lot colder than it was earlier this week.

I had no clue what Pongal was, so I just looked it up. It's an Indian festival.

More here.
