ZOT! The Civics Lesson: A Language Arts/ Social Science Project

The purpose of this lesson is to satisfy the California State Language Arts Standards for use of electronic and internet sources, reading comprehension, writing, and analysis of public debate; and Social Science Standards for democracy in action, the American political process, and participation in public debate.

I don't know if they taught you this, but we don't live in a "democracy"; we live in a representative republic. Yes, there is a difference.

Okay, I'll play.
A conservative is someone who believes in values and time honored tradition. Conservatives are generally opposed to a large, overly intrusive govt., and prefer an economic system that rewards accomplishment rather than failure. We are also sympathetic of those who fail and are willing to help them succeed. We prefer to do this of our own volition to avoid the inevitable wastefulness and bureaucratic inertia of govt. agencies.(i.e. We don't want money seized from one part of the populace and handed to another.) We also oppose any person or group who would infringe upon our rights or attempt to institute their own philosophy by contorting or disregarding the wording of the constitution.(i.e. ACLU)
I could go on, but that hits the major points.
