Poised
Some save the best for last. Not us!
These yucky berries can sit here a while.
They arent so very tasty, even though,
You can spot them from a country mile.
As brightly colored as they are,
Like a bit of sweetened candy to the eye,
If their taste were closer to the image,
Then none of us would deign to pass them by.
On the coldest, darkest Winter morning,
When the biting, savage fury rears and rips,
We will snuggle deeper in the thicket,
With these bitter morsels poised upon our lips.

Sit and relax with some breakfast before starting the errands of the day.
Coffee is fresh brewed and the juice is fresh squeezed.

America's Bravest? -- as seen through a child's eyes
The only way anybody can truly answer this question is to know a firefighter personally:
To see him come home from fighting a blaze all night too exhausted to stand.
To smell the breathtaking scent of smoke that overwhelms him.
To see him deal with the anguish when he's lost a life to that evil he fights to conquer.
Or to fear the unthinkable, that you might get that dreaded call in the middle of the night.
And people say there are no heroes left in this world, no knights in shining armor.
So I say to them, you should picture a firefighter through the eyes of his son. And I conclude, that this is why they are called America's Bravest and always will be.
-- Brandon Tolbert
Let us also honor our brave soldiers, marines and others in uniform who serve under dangerous conditions. -- Ed.

Thank you, OESY.
Here in the metro area a resident has put 1,300 American Flags in his yard and has a banner hanging from his house to honor America's fallen soldiers. He's been interviewed and it's been on the news a couple of times.

In Their Hands
Their daily jobs are risky,
But it is what they do.
They risk their lives for others,
Protecting me and you.
They fight fires and they fight crooks,
They fight our foreign foes.
When no fight is going on,
They still stay on their toes.
They train and wait, wait and train,
Praying they wont need it.
But danger always rears its head,
Then they go defeat it.
A simpler life, they could lead,
But thats not in their plans.
Freedoms future one could say,
Is resting in their hands.

Perfect Peace Is Possible
Read: Isaiah 26:1-9
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3
Bible In One Year: Amos 1-3; Revelation 6
Few things (if anything at all) in this fallen world can be called perfect. But God promises to keep us in "perfect peace" if we keep our minds focused on Him and continue trusting Him (Isaiah 26:3).
So why do we find it so difficult to trust Him? Often, it's because we're afraid that things won't go as we want them to unless we control them ourselves. The less we are in control, the more anxious and worried we become.
Author Hannah Whitall Smith wrote, "It is not hard, you find, to trust the management of the universe, and of all the outward creation, to the Lord. Can your case then be so much more complex and difficult than these, that you need to be anxious or troubled about His management of you?"
Yet we often think our situation is too difficult for God. If we can't solve things ourselves, we doubt that He can. We have our Christian beliefs, yesbut that isn't the same as believing God. Believing God is a personal response that grows out of our Christian faith and is expressed by our increasing trust in Him and His promises.
As our mind remains on Him, He keeps us in perfect peace. This has been the experience of countless believers, and you can experience it too. Joanie Yoder
If God's creation helps us see
What wonders He can do,
Then we can trust His promises
For they are always true. D. De Haan
God can be trusted in the dark as well as in the light.
