“Tyrant”

Faith, Family, and Freedom,
We celebrate each day.
So take a seat and stay a spell,
Or speak up, have your say.
We read, we write, we chat, we joke,
We always have some fun.
Whenever Amy comes around,
We all jump up and run.
For Amy is a tyrant true,
She works us to the bone.
And if you don’t believe me now,
She made me write this poem.

I brought a note from Laura Earl.

Dear Tyrant Amy,

Please do not push little CG to write so much. He is very sensitve and comes home crying if he couldn't think of anything to write.

I like the mushy one and will use it on Thursday.

I don't want to use them up too fast. It may be 6 months before I receive the next one! :)

Oh, they say some people long ago
Were searching for a diff’rent tune
One that they could croon
As only they can
They only had the rhythm
So they started swaying to and fro
They didn’t know just what to use
That is how the blues really began
They heard the breeze in the trees
Singing weird melodies
And they made that the start of the blues

And from a jail came the wail
Of a down-hearted frail
And they played that
As part of the blues
From a whippoorwill
Out on a hill
They took a new note
Pushed it through a horn
’til it was worn
Into a blue note
And then they nursed it, rehearsed it
And gave out the news
That the southland gave birth to the blues!

On the subject of tough task masters on this, International Tolerance Day, may I offer:

"Most important in a friendship? Tolerance and loyalty." --Joanne Kathleen Rowling (English writer, author of Harry Potter, b. b.1965)

"Tolerance is the virtue of the man without convictions." -- G. K. Chesterton (English born Gabonese critic and author of verse, essays, novels and short stories, 1874-1936)

"Humor brings insight and tolerance. Irony brings a deeper and less friendly understanding." -- Agnes Repplier (American essayist, 1858-1950)

"The test of courage comes when we are in the minority. The test of tolerance comes when we are in the majority." -- Ralph W. Sockman

"The evils of government [and political correctness] are directly proportional to the tolerance of the people." -- Anonymous
