Graphic by Billie
A Star In The Family
The Sun cannot see us where we are,
Shes blinded by the footlights,
She slowly shows why shes a star,
Knowing nothing of closing nights.
Turning her graceful somersaults,
In tempered, measured grace,
Somewhere deep in memorys vaults,
She sees each childlike face.
As we tug gently on apron-strings,
Reminding of our presence,
Ignoring our distractings,
She glows with inner pleasance.
The act goes on, as always,
Small matter of her loss.
She always has her sunny days,
And fiery arcs to toss.
The Sun is a good mother,
She keeps her hatchlings warm,
Volatile may be another,
But she has kept her form.
A stellar perfomance so blinding,
Her fire is not a pretend,
Her sacrificed life is unwinding,
With lonely old age at its end.

Humpf.
Hot shot poet ... you spelled
performance wrong.
Ever hear of spell check?
(Kidding...)
In an astonishing pronouncement, Dan Rather of CBS News has announced the discovery of a hitherto unknown text, which was discovered by a team of archaeologists frim Turkey. With great difficulty, the stone engravings were copied into plaster of paris, and a reproduction was made in concrete.
With supreme confidence, Mr. Rather provided this translation, reading directly from the facsimile in his hands.
11. Thou shalt honor thy messengers, and trust their pronouncements.
12. Thou shalt render thy loyalty to the Alphas and the Betas of newsbringers, and shall shun the Omegas of them, and if any man say unto you, My name is Woe, Woe, Woe, hearken to me then stop up your ears and hearken not to the message.
13. Trust ye the leaders of people who come from the land of the eaters of fish, and turn not to him who comes to you from the desert.
14. Be not doubtful of the man who looks into your eye, but rather, doubt the man who stares into the message scroll with too much intent.
15. Thou shalt not mingle thy affairs with those who come into the street in their nightclothes, for they are only repeating their childish nightmares.
Scholars are still debating the meaning of these new revelations. More at eleven.

I have two forms of spelling check, and it still gets past me.
It's like remembering to check that you have your keys, after you lock the door.

But If Not . . .
Read: Daniel 3:1-18
We do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up. Daniel 3:18
Bible In One Year: Isaiah 20-22; Ephesians 6
I recall a Sunday school lesson from nearly 40 years ago in which we were taught to love God in spite of our circumstances. Loving God is easy when He grants our requests and provides what we desire. Loving Him in difficult circumstances tests our faith.
In Daniel 3, we read of the life-and-death decision Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego had to make. If they chose to worship the golden image, they would live; if they refused, death was certain. They answered King Nebuchadnezzar: "Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace . . . . But if not, . . . we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up" (vv.17-18).
Were Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego lacking in faith when they said "but if not"? No. They knew God was fully capable of delivering them from the fiery furnace.
There's a lesson in this for all of us. Is God all-powerful? Yes. Is He able to deliver us from all our problems? Yes. Does God always deliver us from our difficulties? No.
We may not fully comprehend God's purpose in our difficulty and suffering, but we must not cease to love Him. We must trust Him and hope in Him in spite of the trials that threaten to overwhelm us. Albert Lee
I have learned to love my Savior,
And I trust Him more each day;
For no matter what the trial,
He will always be my stay. Hess
Genuine faith stays strong when deliverance seems distant.

Rainin' Cats and Dogs here this mornin'. Dad is on his way up here too. Hope he drives carefully.
He's bringing us some sweet potatoes and then we're off to my aunt's.
He's got a box of them for her, too.
Dad said yesterday he'd be here between 9 and 10.
So I'll see y'all when I can. :^D
