Love In The Home
If I live in a house of spotless beauty
With everything in its place,
But have not love,
I am a housekeeper -- not a homemaker.
If I have time for waxing, polishing,
And decorative achievements,
But have not love,
My children learn cleanliness -- not Godliness.
Love leaves the dust in search of a child's laugh.
Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints
On a newly cleaned glass.
Love wipes away the tears before
It wipes up the spilled milk.
Love picks up the child before
It picks up the toys.
Love is present through the trials.
Love reprimands, reproves, and is responsive.
Love crawls with the baby, walks with the toddler,
Runs with the child, then stands beside
To guide the youths walk into adulthood.
Love is the key that opens
Salvation's message to a child's heart.
Before I became a mother
I took glory in my house of perfection.
Now I glory in God's perfection of my child.

That is SO hard to read! But I think I got most of it.......except for "Dosee".
Reminds me of the problems we have had communicating with some of the cabin stewards and table waiters on the cruise ships. Just about the time I am beginning to understand some of what they are saying it's time to get off the ship. LOL

How about a song?
The Little Engine that said I think I can.
Has made itself a legend all across the land.
How unfortunate it would be,
If from sea to shining sea,
We all had to live in this
"Absurdistan"!
Its from the creative (and mostly conservative) folks at WBAL.

I like that. Send our kids to school to learn a language that is politically correct. A land where Minorities rule.
Isn't that the truth.

A Thirst for Life
I drank at life so thirstily,
I hardly paused to taste,
The sweet nectar of the essence,
Id consumed in so much haste.
Now that the glass is nearing,
The zenith of its rise,
I try to savor every drop,
And drink more with my eyes.
The world seems filled with rainbows,
With color everywhere,
And sparkling diadems that float,
As dust motes in the air.
Ive switched to slower motion,
To capture every glance,
I want to draw in ... Everything!
While there is still a chance.
I wonder what Ill see on,
That distant fateful morn,
The dawning sun will rise no more,
Nights curtain wont be torn.
No new things to enchant me,
Will memories too fail?
I will be travelling lightly,
With new seas yet to sail.
The waters I will journey,
Will seem immense and vast,
But they are only more of what,
Ive captured in my glass.
The liquid that refreshes me,
Will ease me when it goes,
The fire that warms me in my den,
Will yield to cooling snows.
With all these cycles turning,
There seems to be no end,
I will not fear what I may find,
Beyond the hidden bend.

I have to live with myself, and so
I want to be fit for myself to know.
I want to be able, as days go by,
Always to look myself straight in the eye;
I don't want to stand, with the setting sun,
And hate myself for the things I've done.
I want to go out with my head erect,
I want to desserve all men's respect:
For here in the struggle for fame and self
I want to be able to like myself.
I dont want to look at myself and know
That I'm bluster and bluff and empty show.
I never can hide myself from me;
I see what others may never see.
I know what others may never know.
I neer can fool myself, and so,
Whatever happens I want to be
Self-respecting and conscience fee.

Tao of the Renga *
crystals form like fallen ferns
fond memories flirting in time
gone the green essence of life
fine fronds weaving with the wind
feathery wisps of lace blend
with blue skies and autumn hues
light peers through, distant, haunting
an eery pause to reflect
our spirit seeks elusive truths
silence merely mocks with smiles
we yearn to hear the message
only sorrows pierce the calm
* Renga or "linked verse" is Japanese poetry whereby people take turns adding lines or verses. One types 7 (or 5) syllables -- not words -- in a line, which is in turn completed by another person. Poems can branch off in multiple lines to form a "kika" or "branched verse".
The selection above, however, was composed more or less properly(?) by this lone sole who was inspired by patterns on a car windshield photographed Nov. 6 in Walla Walla, Washington. Interested parties are invited, nay encouraged, to revise and extend my remarks, or lines to that effect.

Life
Ive often speculated,
Just how our minds perform.
Twice in life Ive been near death,
No fear, no pain, no storm.
I felt so calm and peaceful,
Time seemed to just stand still.
My life was like a video,
I viewed my past at will.
I couldnt speak or even move,
So I just watched the show.
Now I know, just minutes passed,
Those minutes did pass slow.
I saw the good and the bad,
Then watched it all again.
Third time, I just watched the good,
So happy I had been.
Then a voice told me, Go back,
You still have work to do.
Part of the work remaining,
Is sharing this with you.
It was so many years ago,
But seems like yesterday.
I did not tell you everything,
Some things are best that way.
Though I was gone just minutes,
Others were gone longer.
We left a while, then came back,
We came back much stronger.
Renewed with faith in God above,
Free of our worldly fears.
No one knows how long he has,
Some seconds, minutes, years.
Trust the Lord to guide you on,
His love will light your way.
Praise Him for His Grace and gifts,
Thank Him everyday.

Wow, here's a golden oldie, Tao of the Renga. I wish I had the energy right now to help get it started again. (Wait till tomorrow.) Seems appropriate for an anniversary look-back.
