The Invention of the Ice Cream Cone July 23, 1904 Would you rather eat delicious, creamy ice cream from a bowl or a cone? On July 23, 1904, the choice became available when Charles E. Minches of St. Louis, Missouri, developed the idea of filling a pastry cone with ice cream, and the ice cream cone was invented. The walk-away cone made its debut later that year at the St. Louis World's Fair. Of course, before the cone, someone had to invent ice cream. Do you know when ice cream was invented? |

Good Morning! Happy Private Eye/Ice Cream Cone Day! The private eye day thing sounds kind of cool...but I think I'm going to celebrate Ice Cream Cone Day in a little bit. Any day that includes ice cream is a good day. :D
I hope you all have a wonderful Friday!

I remember the folks making home made ice cream in the summer. Most times, it was banana. Sometimes it was peach !
Always, it was GOOD! :^D

Home made ice cream at our house was usually vanilla but sometimes it was strawberry or peach. Nothing like home made ice cream.
Wonderful memories!!!

Celecbrate Ice Cream Cone Day with an ice cream cake!!!
Coffee Almond Ice Cream Cake
1 1/2 c Chocolate wafer crumbs (about 30 cookies)
1/4 c Unsalted butter, melted
1 1/2 pt Coffee ice cream, slightly softened
1 1/2 c Heavy cream, well chilled
1 tsp Vanilla
1 1/2 c Amaretti, crushed (Italian almond macaroons)
1/2 c Almonds, sliced and toasted
Dark chocolate sauce
1. In a bowl with a fork, stir together the crumbs and butter until the mixture is well combined. Pat the mixture onto the bottom and 1-inch up the sides of a lightly oiled 8-inch, 2-1/2-inch deep spring form pan. Freeze crust for 30 minutes or until firm. Spread ice cream evenly on the crust and return to freezer for 30 minutes or until ice cream is firm.
2. In a bowl with an electric mixer, beat cream with vanilla until it holds stiff peaks, fold in amaretti thoroughly and spread over ice cream. Smooth top of cake, sprinkle with almonds, and freeze cake for 30-45 minutes, or until top is firm.
3. Freeze cake, covered with plastic wrap and foil, overnight. Just before serving, wrap a warm damp towel around the side of the pan, remove side of pan, and transfer cake to a serving plate. Cut into wedges with a knife dipped in hot water and serve it with Dark Chocolate Sauce
