(A poem mourning the death of Abraham Lincoln)
When lilacs last in the dooryard bloom'd, And the great star early droop'd in the western sky in the night, I mourn'd, and yet shall mourn with ever-returning spring. Ever-returning spring, trinity sure to me you bring, Lilac blooming perennial and drooping star in the west, And thought of him I love.
O powerful western fallen star! O shades of night -O moody, tearful night! O great star disappeared -O the black murk that hides the star! O cruel hands that hold me powerless -O helpless soul of me! O harsh surrounding cloud that will not free my soul.
In the dooryard fronting an old farm-house near the white-washed palings, Stands the lilac-bush tall-growing with heart-shaped leaves of rich green, With many a pointed blossom rising delicate, with the perfume strong I love, With every leaf a miracle -and from this bush in the dooryard, With delicate-coloured blossoms and heart-shaped leaves of rich green, A sprig with its flower I break.

I probably won't be around much today, so y'all behave yourself and have a nice day (would that be an oxymoron? LOL).

Evenin' MB. Nice lookin' bouquet. Born and raised in The Lilac City so they've always been a favorite. Too bad they don't last very long.

Yes, they don't last long at all, but when they're in bloom the fragrance is heavenly. They remind me of my grandmother. I think of them as the "grandmother" flower.

Really? I didn't know that.
That reminds me, Washington is on my list to profile soon. It will be an interesting state. Stay tuned. :-)
Good night, DD.

Calamity
Read: Luke 13:1-5
Do you think that they were worse sinners . . . ? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Luke 13:4-5
Bible In One Year: 2 Chronicles 1-3; John 10:1-23
Some Christians are quick to declare that a public disaster (such as a terrorist attack, an earthquake, or a flood) is the result of divine judgment. In reality, a complex array of factors lie behind most disasters.
In Luke 13, Jesus was asked about some people who were cruelly murdered, and about 18 people who died when a tower collapsed on them. The people asking the questions were wondering if those who died were worse sinners than others. "I tell you, no," said Jesus, "but unless you repent you will all likewise perish" (vv.3,5).
Instead of reading divine judgment into tragedies, we should see them as a call to personal repentance. This is especially true for unbelievers, but it is also true for Christians. Acts of terrorism, for example, challenge us to learn about the injustices that in part motivate people to commit such horrible atrocities. And we can pray earnestly for the conversion and the good of the desperate people who commit such acts.
Calamities in themselves are never good, but they can fulfill God's purposes when they serve as a wake-up call to believers, and when they bring unbelievers to repentance and faith in Jesus. Let's not ask, "Who's to blame?" but "Lord, what are You saying to me?" Herb Vander Lugt
When great calamity befalls,
We wonder why it's sent;
But God says, "Ask not who has sinned
Just hear My call, 'Repent!'" D. De Haan
In alarming situations, listen for God's wake-up call.

So the monitor talks, how does it know what to say? Does it have an interpretor like TDD (the operator deaf people call for intrepretation)?
(C.G., I'm beginning to think you have everything mechanical and/or technical...)

When I get a post, the talking monitor reads it to me. Then I think of a reply while my telepathic keyboard types it.

You are inviting us to become a victim of rat rumps and mouse manure, of chipmunk chips and pillow poops? T'wit, T'wit, T'wit. No. This is a group for those who have already been victimized, not an invitation to BECOME victimized.
As founder of this organization, DVPOPC, I wish to extend an invitation to you as an honorary member.

A Shoulder
Youve been quiet. We all can see
how silent you are, to us and to me.
Weve not seen your words, your laughter, your face,
but we all know that each of us, needs our own space.
Comfort comes in such shapes and forms,
like frosty mornings, or summer storms,
mugs of cocoa, fresh spring breeze,
or quiet time, to do as we please.
Each of us needs a reminder, however,
that when things just arent right, and the squalls and the weather
just arent going our way, we cant be bolder
than to ask of a friend, I need a shoulder.

It's true, Bob! They do have an underground network! They can also survive in the duct work of a home (in the summer time with no central air).
