My support email to Donald Rumsfeld, with copies to President Bush and VP Cheney:
Subject: I Support Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld !
My Dear Sir:
In light of the developments in the news here lately and SOD Donald Rumsfeld's testimony on Capitol Hill today, I felt compelled to send this note to you. It is my hope that you will convey my note of support to him.
When President Bush was elected in 2000 (I voted for him, by the way), I was ELATED to hear later that Donald Rumsfeld was picked as Secretary of Defense. I recalled him from his prior service and felt CONFIDENT that we had the right man at the top of the Defense Department.
I encourage Secretary Rumsfeld to STAY THE COURSE and to keep up the great job he is doing.
I am not one to usually take an activist stance except in times that I feel STRONGLY about an issue. This is one of those times.
I EMPLORE Mr. Rumsfeld to hang in there. We NEED strong leadership like his at such an important position. I would be very disappointed to lose such a great leader, great human at this time in history!
I want to make this short, but one LAST thing. I am a member of FreeRepublic.com and wanted to pass along a link to an article of SUPPORT for Donald Rumsfeld that was posted today to show that there are MANY on my #1 newslink that feel the same way. The link is at the BOTTOM of this email.
Sincerely,
[MeekOneGOP]

It's not just the way you rhyme words, or the way you see things.
It's how you WEAVE the words into the tapestry you want to create. You make things for others to see through.

Good evening, TS
I just got home from our Friday Night Support the Troops Rally.
We didn't have very many there. There were 8 of us to try to counter about 2 dozen peacnics. We did get more honks and thumbs up than the unwashed bodies across the street!!
It looks like everyone skipped coming by Amy's tonight. It appears to have been a very slow night!!

Well, HOOAH to y'all for supporting the joes. Lord knows they need it now, with all this other crap happening.
BTW, I'm really sorry about being so bitter sounding earlier today. I was typing it with my typical sarcastic grin on my face, and didn't realize how venomous I sounded until after I reread it. You've my apologies...
So what's on the plate for tomorrow?

I'm not sure what celebration info Jen will bring tomorrow. Maybe it will be something fun ..... like Happy Ice Cream Cone Day. : )
I will probably post one of NicknamedBob's poems tomorrow.
Jim will probably ask me to post the rally thread tonight. I'm the only one who took pictures and they are not very good. When I get it posted, I will add you to my ping list if you would like for me too.
For 2 years we stood on the corner every Friday night except the 2 Friday's after Thanksgivings. We slacked off for a while but are hoping to get back in the habit. The peacenics are there the first Friday of every month. WE will get out there on that Friday even if we can't make it to the other Friday evenings.

Lending a Hand
The burden does get lighter, when someone lends a hand,
His crew is setting to the task, although its undermanned.
It makes a pleasant outing, out of a grinding haul.
And he may even feel the help, as she gives it her all.
The biggest help that he receives, is company for the trip,
Hes graduated from a doryman, to captain of a ship.
He has to entertain her. He is the purser, too.
And he keeps the sharpest lookout for the welfare of the crew.
He likely will not stay the day, out at the chosen site,
But even if he did, the work would still seem rather slight.
Although the catch could be quite small, she knows he is a winner,
And they will have a memory too, no matter whats for dinner.

Good for you!
No smile for #260? Billie's graphic was sweet and romantic, and I hope I didn't cross a line in seeing a silly story there too.

Good morning, T'wit.
I tried several times last night to show that image and could not get it to open.
Let me try copying the URL to see if I can see it.

FIND it? I "cartooned" it by adding the caption :-) I used to do "photoons" of Clinton as a hobby. Unfortunately, I just lost my photo-hosting account, so can't show off the old 'toons I did. But some, at least, are still a stitch :-)
Here are a few of them, including some of my favorites. I used the Lincoln one at the March for Justice in D.C. A couple of the others have never been published, so -- don't steal, gang. I've been waiting for the right moments for them.

Either my account expired and they didn't bother to tell me, or I was the victim of a corporate glitch they are apologizing for. In any case, I've lost my paid account and all I can do at present is give you the URL for the album, rather than a specific photo. You are free to do a "slide show" (I hope). Right click the icon and use "view image."

Uncounted Blessings
© Jill Wolf
Whenever we gather together,
The words are not easy to find,
But love speaks a common language
When people have ties that bind.
We don't always say what we're feeling
As often as families should;
We don't count our blessings out loud,
But somehow they're understood.
We know that we're thankful for living
With the comfort of each other's care;
We're grateful for memories and stories,
And the jokes that our family shares.
We might leave a promise unspoken,
But we know that we're loyal and true;
We can count on companions through life,
In the sunshine and shadows, too.
We might show some special attention
To a stranger, acquaintance, or guest,
But we never forget in our hearts
About those that we really love best.
These blessings can never be counted
Like money or gold dividends;
They can only be shared as the love
That exists when families are friends

T'wit's Cartoons
I was able to view all of the graphics. LOL
I could not use the URL to post any of them. I could save the picture to my computer and re-upload but could not copy a link.
You are clever!! You have some funny stuff there. Thanks for sharing it with us!!
