Pope Honors Martyrs of Three Faiths [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 19 April 2026 | John Semmens

This week, Pope Leo XIV visited Algeria's "Maqam Echahid" to "honor the sacrifices made by the Christians, Jews, and Muslims in 1962. All exhibited supreme devotion to their faiths. The Christians and Jews died for their faith. Many of the Muslims involved in slaying these non-Muslims also died in pursuit of their faith."

Leo explained that "our presence here at this monument pays tribute to this history of Algeria and to the very spirit of a people who fought for the independence, dignity and sovereignty of this nation. Many non-Muslims regard the massacre of persons of different faiths as an atrocity. However, this overlooks the fact that the faith of Islam instructs its believers to fight for Allah. Those non-Muslims who willingly convert are spared. Those who do not may justifiably be killed. This course of action is written down in Islam's sacred texts."

"The martyrdom of the Christians and Jews was also achieved in obedience to the sacred texts of their faiths," Leo pointed out. "Entry into heaven is granted by God to all who die for their faith. So, even while the massacre of men, women, and children may horrify our human sensibilities, the early entry into heaven merits our rejoicing for those who share our faith and forgiveness toward those whose pursuit of their faith helped deliver our people to the kingdom of God."

Prior to the 1962 massacre, a million Catholics and 140,000 Jews lived in Algeria. Now there are only 8,000 Catholics and 200 Jews living there. The Pope observed that "only a minority of the Catholics and Jews were killed. The vast majority of them moved elsewhere, ceding dominance of Algeria to the Muslims and restoring peace to the country."

Ok this ass is a heretic and complete fool. Even as a youth when my Aunt Ann brought me to a few Catholic services it seemed off to me even as a young child. I am a Christian and I see the vatican used as prop for globalist outcome and far away as one can get from spreading Gods word.

Pope honors those who worship a false and evil God. What exactly does Catholosism stand for these days?

"Pope Leo XIV visited Algeria... to "honor the sacrifices made by the Christians, Jews, and Muslims in 1962.

Muslims? The Pope is either an idiot, (I doubt that very much) or he's just willfully ignorant of the history of Islam.

my Aunt Ann brought me to a few Catholic services it seemed off to me even as a young child

mythenjoseph - have you read the book of Micah or the book of Revelation?

It is completely understandable why the Catholic Mass can feel "off" to someone who grew up in a more modern or low-church tradition. To a child, the incense, the standing and sitting, and the chanted prayers can feel more like a strange play than a Sunday service.

However, if you read the New Testament and the later prophets in the OT, you would see that this is biblical --> The Mass isn't designed to be a contemporary meeting; it is designed to be a mirror of the Bible's description of Heaven and the practice of the very first Christians.

I would urge you to read the Book of revelation -- you'll notice that the prayer in heaven isn't like a classroom or pastor-led song session - it Liturgy. The Catholic Mass intentionally uses the same "props" described in John’s vision of the Heavenly throne room:

The Mass is essentially the fulfillment of the Old Testament Temple worship. God gave very specific instructions for worship in Exodus and Leviticus, and the early Church believed Jesus didn't destroy those patterns, but perfected them.

Just as there were priests in the Old Covenant, the New Covenant has a priesthood to offer the "pure offering" prophesied in Malachi 1:11: "For from the rising of the sun to its setting... a pure offering shall be offered to my name."

In the Old Testament, the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed and eaten (Exodus 12). Jesus is the final Passover Lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7), and the Mass is the way we participate in that one-time sacrifice.

The "drama" or formality you felt as a child is often an attempt to follow St. Paul's warnings in the Epistles. Paul was very serious about how people treated the "Breaking of Bread."
"Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord... For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself."
(1 Corinthians 11:27-29)
-- the reason it may have felt "off" to you is because it's MEANT to be other-worldly as it is not a coffee shop or lecture hall or sing-along session, it is the thin veil between earth and the "Marriage Supper of the Lamb" (Revelation 19:9).

--------------------

Do note that this "Catholic service" is similar to the "Eastern Orthodox" service - or even more so, the "Ethiopian Orthodox" service or the "Indian St. Thomas Christians service" or the "Assyrian Church of the east" service -- these 3 churches (in Ethiopia, south India and Iraq/Iran) were separated from the Catholic/Orthodox church in the 3rd century due to politics and distance yet they have the SAME liturgical order

And note that the services you may be familiar with (non-Catholic western ones) are modern, and not something that Christians prior to the 1600s even knew or heard about. What is the proof of that?

  1. The didache - a book written in thr 50s AD that describes the rituals of the church has this all written out
  2. Justin Martyr - a 155 AD Christian apologist wrote this down as well
What did these two 1st and 2nd century books say about the "services" of Christians?

Mythenjoseph - Does knowing that the "strange" parts are actually direct references to the Book of Revelation change how you look at those childhood memories, or does it still feel like too much "extra" stuff added to the simplicity of the Gospel?

I have read both Micah and revelation. I never stop reading the Bible as I always come across pertinent and new information every time. The main problem I have with the Catholic Church starts at the head (vatican) and who they associate with in business. Prior to the internet this outfit had TOTAL control of any information about them being put out in the public arena. It is evident that they have strayed from Gods word. Allowing islam ANY access to me is total blasphemy ...I have NO forgiveness for aligning Jesus with this satanic murderous homosexual brutal cult. That was the last straw for me...now these stone stacking inbreds have a prayer room within a SUPPOSED house of God. Little more than “weeds rather than wheat”

Hi mythenJoseph!

thanks for reading that and acknowledging that the Mass is connected to both Micha and the book of Revelation.

It is truly heartening to hear that you never stop searching the Scriptures, as that is exactly where we find the blueprint for the Church Christ founded.

We need to ignore the failings of the priests and fix your eyes on the Altar, where the “pure offering” prophesied by Malachi is still offered in every corner of the world today.

This Church is the same one that preserved the very Bible you love, maintaining the “breaking of bread” in the exact way the Apostles and the earliest martyrs did.

Remember that in the Book of revelation — you’ll notice that the prayer described in John’s vision of the Heavenly throne room is exactly like the Mass:
- The Altar: John sees an altar in Heaven (Revelation 6:9).
- The Incense: He sees golden bowls of incense, which are the prayers of the saints (Revelation 5:8, 8:3-4).
- The Robes: The elders and priests are clothed in white robes (Revelation 4:4).
- The Chants: They sing the “Holy, Holy, Holy” (Revelation 4:8), which Catholics call the Sanctus
- The Lamb: The center of worship is “The Lamb who was slain” (Revelation 5:6). This is why the priest holds up the host and says, “Behold the Lamb of God” (John 1:29).

The Mass is the “pure offering” prophesied in Malachi 1:11: “For from the rising of the sun to its setting... a pure offering shall be offered to my name.”

Jesus is the final Passover Lamb (1 Corinthians 5:7), and the Mass is the way we participate in that one-time sacrifice. When you encounter the Eucharist, you aren’t meeting a political institution, but the Living God who promised that the gates of hell would never prevail against His visible Church.

There is no greater joy than receiving Christ in the fullness of the faith He handed down to us.
