How exactly did this happen? “Sound of Freedom” crossing the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office is some kind of achievement. It’s the highest earning independently-financed film of the year, by a long shot.
It’s made more money than Oscar contenders “Tar,” “The Fabelmans,” “The Banshees of Inisherin,” “Women Talking” “Til,” and “Triangle of Sadness” combined.
“Sound of Freedom” is set to make another $22-25 million this weekend. A domestic total of $200 million isn’t entirely out of the realm of possibilities, especially with the legs that it’s showing. When all is said and done, will it manage to outgross “The Flash” and “Elemental”?
Obviously, there’s a clearcut audience for conservative filmmaking, even though I wouldn’t even qualify “Sound of Freedom” a “conservative movie.” It’s a well-made, but conventional movie, with strong moments and some unfortunate sentimentality. However, audiences love it — an A+ CinemaScore is something to brag about.
What it has done is strike a chord with conservatives and, in case you weren’t aware by the blockbuster numbers of 2004’s “Passion of the Christ,” and others, there is most definitely a large demographic composed of red-state Americans hungry for this type of “marketed” movie.
Will Hollywood take advantage of this Trump-voting audience? The people who boycott Target, Bud Light and NPR are the same ones buying a ticket to “Sound of Freedom.” It’s a simple as that.
It’s also crossed political lines. I’ve spoken to more than a few self-proclaimed liberals who went to see this movie and, know what? They all loved it.
There are also plenty who will refuse to watch it because its star, Jim Caviezel, is supposed to be some kind of QAnon shaman, or something like that, but what the hell do I know about that topic.

“It’s remarkable how divided our country is.”
Your comment shows that it is THEM dividing us, and not our own doing.
And frankly? I’m at the point where I no longer care. I want nothing to do with these despicable, America-Hating Socialist Democrats.
Nothing, whatsoever. And I know I’m not alone.
Yeah, but at least you get to see DeNiro get his brains blown out, so there is that.
Every cloud…
Lol, I just saw this…
Note tagline.
I love it
Opposing this movie and its message merely shows how morally bankrupt the Democrat Party and the left are.
unfortunate sentimentality
/\
So being emotionally moved by a real life story and subject is
“unfortunate sentimentality” ?
Unfortunate for WHO ?
Folk are “hungry”
for heartbreaking and horrible accounts of child sex slavery ?
“Marketed” for MAGA ?
This creep thinks $$$ is the motive behind makeing this film ?
It’s the kid sex SLAVE TRADE that is motivated by $$!.
Do these people have mirrors or any sence of self awareness or are they just plain sick reprobates ?
Watched it with my youngest child this evening. Found it ponderous, albeit extremely well done in general. As some others have suggested, those who think child sex slavery in a non-entity should have their hard drives examined.
If there was a movie critical of serial killing and a conservative was connected with it, Democrats would condemn it!
Actually no that is not happening either. Indy 5 peaked at about $307 Million worldwide and that is looking like about $400 to $500 Million dollar loss for Disney right now.
Real Americans are infuriated by the truth of child sex slave activities and the way it has been carefully hidden.
It is hidden no more and the satanic slaves that have been committing these ugly sins and vicious crimes know the reckoning is coming.
“some unfortunate sentimentality.”
What self–important snark… heaven forbid a character have human, compassionate reactions to such horrible criminality.
Top Movie and top selling single with Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town”
It’s the beginning... we are fighting back.
At least you admit it. That's a lot more than you can say about the libtards who are screaming about the so-called QAnon connection who uncritically parrot the propaganda being spread by the MSM. Why would they take time to research a topic when the TV is telling them exactly what to think?
Agree w/Braveheart, the others were boring.
I don’t know how this is happening, but two friends of mine- black Democrats, have heard about it and are going this weekend. I’m thinking it’s because children are involved and that really makes them mad. We’ll see what their reaction is...
$100m...remarkable cinsidering “air conditioning” issues and the reviews..
I’m especially curious how it will be received in Latin America and in China (if it’s allowed there)
Honduras is begging for the movie, but can’t get a distributor for it.
Forrest Gump
I don’t get the “love” people have for this movie. It’s stupid, derivative, and just plain an insult to the viewers intelligence.
And Tom Hanks is an anti-Jim Caviziel. As liberal as the day is long. I think the last thing I liked him in was “Big” and “Joe Vs. The Volcano”.
Yeah, but at least you get to see DeNiro get his brains blown out, so there is that.
Like watching Tom Cruise die 100 times in “Live, Die, Repeat” aka “Edge of Tomorrow”, I can watch that multiple times in a single day.
