I think people walking around by themselves or in their cars with masks on are suspicious.

It is the nicest day of the year today, so I got my convertible out of storage and was randomly driving around looking at the trees and the rest of God's creation, walked on the beach and just wanted to enjoy nature.

I normally do not carry, but there were all random people wearing masks, so I could not really see their expressions and try to gauge what their intentions might be.

It seems like they were trying to cover up their first amendment rights to expression or something.

Even in the neighborhoods when I was driving home there were just people alone wearing masks checking out the houses and stuff.

Should I call 911 and report all these suspicious people ?

Restrictions have been lifted in most public places here in my part of Maryland. But I live in an area with a large immigrant population. When I go to the grocery, the people I see still wearing masks are generally Hispanic or Asian.

I haven’t figured that out, unless it’s cultural in some cases, and a matter of education in others. We also have a large Black population, but they don’t seem to still wear the masks as much as others.

Yeah, here’s some pre-COVID articles you need to read.

Maybe you just had old school medics that didn’t keep up on stuff.

In many Asian countries, people will wear masks when they don’t feel well to avoid spreading whatever they have; they will also wear masks when air pollution is particularly bad.

Nope, you can wear masks or not wear masks as you wish. Hell, wear one on top of your head as a hair decoration.

But don’t ridicule others who make different choices or don’t have a choice but to wear one if they want to breathe.

Also, I wouldn’t want you as a serf. I’d have to feed you, even when you’re not working.

Yes, I had seen Asian people wearing masks before Covid. (The ladies often carry umbrellas in the Summer sunshine, too :-)

My wife has a chronic lung disease, interstitial pneumonia (not the traditional pneumonia, it’s marked by long term lung scarring). Before Covid hit she would occassionaly wear a mask to the store if the air quality was really bad.

She was standing in line at the checkout when she said a guy started making fun of her. I pretty sure you know the type guy, a real jerk, (the kind that would make fun of a person with a medical issue). She said she told him to get lost, because she has a low tolerance for A-Holes (and again, I’m positive you’re very familiar with that type).

“Motorcyclists have worn masks since there have been motorcycles.”

This is interesting to me. Between 1983-2003 I logged more than 100k miles on motorcycles and I never, ever, once, saw a fellow motorcyclist wearing a mask. Never. Maybe I was riding too fast to notice. But seriously, never.

If your son CHOOSES to mask, he will get no flak from me. Whether it’s out of fear, following some third party’s rules or just virtue signaling, it’s his own business. I won’t be asking why; the mask says “stay away”.

If he tries to FORCE others to mask he’ll get plenty of flak.

But ask him this if the topic is discussed: Is there a shred of proof, or even evidence, that COVID masking has saved a single life anywhere at any time?

He was wearing the mask in the convenience store. He was behind me in line with a blue disposable medical mask (socially distanced). I prepaid and went out to pump my gas. Out in the parking lot I admired a beautiful Yamaha cruiser.

While I was pumping gas the guy came out of the store, got on the bike and rode off. The mask wasn’t the type people use when motorcycling.

“she has a low tolerance for A-Holes (and again, I’m positive you’re very familiar with that type).”

of course, I was one of the founding members of AA

(Assholes Anonymous) back a long time ago.

The difference is that the anonymous part was a joke cause we never wore masks and were certainly not ever anonymous.

We just called out what is now called woke Stupidity (which could not ever have included your wife I am certain)

It was far more common prior to the interstate system being constructed - but it is a historical fact. The most common setup for the US seems to have been goggles or sunglasses and a kerchief used as a mask if they didn’t have something purpose made. Here’s a later look at the same thing: https://i.pinimg.com/600x315/09/34/55/0934559d3b632529fa0cb17d3d25edf7.jpg

Me: Why you wearing rubber boots?

Maskie: In case of a lightning strike nearby, so I won’t get electrocuted.

Me: Its sunny. Even if it was raining, those boots won’t protect you, they have holes in them. Your feet are still wet.

Maskie: You trying to kill me?

Me: [walking away slowly, furtively checking behind me...]

Try using local honey. It has trace elements of pollen in it that supposedly helps build up resistance to local pollen.

Another aspect to list - organ transplant patients. The ways their immune system has to be suppressed to avoid rejection has innate risks. Example - friend was told by doctors to be wary when mowing and wearing a tight fitting good mask was mandatory due to airborne (animal) fecal material that would be encountered. One time he didn't and it put him in the hospital in a serious way for a while.

Pre-COVID, I would occasionally see people using those same masks along with sunglasses while dirtbiking, so there was precedent.
