Possible Relocation to Ashville, NC. for 30 yo daughter Any thoughts appreciated.
Highly recommend Greenville, SC, about 75-80 minutes south. Different as day and night. Greenville is a great city, so much to do and all without the lefty, nasty-like libfest of the San Francisco of the east.
There was a thread recently about how many Asheville cops were quitting because of leftist politicians and lack of respect from residents.
Cops are stopping responding to calls under $1,000 damage.
All of the nice, pretty cities are liberal. With an exception: bentonville Arkansas.
Look into it.
And the job market is fantastic here on the upstate of South Carolina.
We note apartments are not cheap, and with safety concerns, can’t skimp on apartment safety.
Just got back from a stay at a BandB in Bryson City. Been there a few times over the years at the same BandB so sure not talking of the same one.
Nice country but unless you have some outside income source or plan on working in hospitality industry, no much to do for income.
I pretty much agree on what was said about Acheville.
Permit me to mention something I tell every person who moves into a city.
1. Do not take a basement apartment.
2. Do not take a first floor apartment.
It might not seem like a big deal. But it is.
Do Not go south out of Asheviile if SHTF.
DO NOT go east. North or west with good walking shoes.
Greenville is south of Asheville. Don’t head that way.
West southwest maybe, but certainly west.or north.
I40 west of Asheville would be a nightmare. Plan different routes, secondaries.
FYI we have property bordering the Nantahala national forest which is west of Asheville.
Agree.......there are still conservative towns in western NC......
....but Asheville is not one.......1/3 of their police force just resigned
.......but like Orlando you can surely work there but find an oasis to ‘live’ in a nearby city.........most of western NC is Trump country
......we have family in Austin......but there are conservative, non Austin type towns surrounding it.......if you have to work there
We go to East Tennessee every year, fairly conservative...Even Knoxville, but apparently Ashville is vastly different.

I have heard wonderful things about Greenville. I have a friend whose sis lives there—loves it. It is on the radar as a great place for me to retire and daughter to work...

Recommend East Tennessee over Asheville. Not that you can’t find liberals in East Tennessee, but not like Asheville. Except maybe Knoxville.
More confirmation. Daughter said it was a Portland wannabe. Not sure anywhere would be safe in SHTF, but at least for now, she is near family.

If Asheville is not the right place, I would advocate Blue Ridge, Ga. or Taccoa, Ga. . And if those places are not right, then the nut case town of Athens, Ga. and if too libtard Athens, then west into Oconee County Ga. or try Madison, Ga.
