Asheville is a fun town, lots of things to do. It it very liberal though. A lot of aging hippies there. The weather is great year round. There are a lot of homeless in the downtown area.

I know someone who moved there with his wife twenty years ago and moved back to the Midwest a few years later.
If you like what NYC has become, I'd say go to Asheville, because it's a much prettier path to Hell on Earth.
NC is a “shall issue” state for concealed carry, but requires a safety and training course. Just add it to the list with drivers license and registration, water and power, Internet and any professional licenses, and mail forwarding.
My friend (former executive chef at Pinehurst) has a B&B in Bryson City. He loves it. Asheville, not so much.

My daughter lives in Asheville. As another Freeper said, Asheville is very liberal, and in the last several years I’ve been dismayed by a beautiful city gone bad.
Asheville defunded the police, the crime rate soars, and as one friend observed, “It’s an angry place.”

If can stay out of Asheville proper, the area is VERY conservative. Even in western Buncombe County, there were 65% Trump precincts. The City itself is a cancer.

I visited my daughter two weeks ago. Spoke with a 30something man who was raised there. He gave me lots of insight. No , he is not liberal.
I am rethinking my daughter’s residency there.
I knew Asheville was liberal, but in the last few years, it drastically has changed.
We;ve even talked with my daughter about how she would get out of Asheville should there be a riot or catastrophe. She would go south toward Atlanta, into the mountains.
Asheville would be locked down. It is, unfortunately, a portland wannabe.
Asheville is Berkely,CA east. Easy to live a little outside Asheville and still enjoy the breweries etc.
Go west a little, and uphill.
Asheville is for snowflakes and wokesters, with a beanie, a man bun etc.
Pretty, but the outskirts are prettier.
Do Not go east or south. Go west or north for better locale and weather.
IMHO.
If she is looking for a simp husband that is probably a good place to go. If she doesn’t want a husband, I am sure they have plenty of places that have boxes of wine and shelters with cats available.
