The animal kooks keep getting their way to the detriment of everybody who enjoys the outdoors without wanting to get attacked or eaten. Plus places like CA prevent you from arming yourself against apex predators who would love to devour you.

You can always carry a weapon when is a wilderness area. Second point. By YOUR logic all apex predators must be killed? Why not kill all lions, tigers and bears oh my. Hell's fire elephants step on people, sh!t they gotta go too!!

We only need to control those big man-eating apex critters in the areas I like to hike. Elsewhere is fine for them.

I remember when they said, “There has never been a documented case of a mountain lion attacking a person!” Implying it would be safe to let them back into the area.

My family has a lake house in Oklahoma that my sister lives in now. It's on the lakeshore and a very rural location. In recent years, coyotes have been increasing and now there's a full blown pack that has set the area as its territory. At night, there is a chorus of howling and yelps within a few hundred yards.

Their two dogs are large enough in size but are way up in years so they have been considering what breed for the replacement. I've advised them first to stay with the two old dogs when outside and at night as they cannot protect themselves any longer. Next, I've advised to go with a larger breed than the small breeds they are considering for the new ones.

Small dogs and cats are both at high risk from coyotes and fox.

Camas looks like a beautiful place to live -- although perhaps not so for small dogs on unfenced ground.

About the only good I can think of in the resurgence of coyotes is that they commonly prey on rodent and feral cat populations, the reduction of the latter being much to the benefit of wild birds. Florida has a harder time of it in that pythons have become established in the wild and are also devastating native birds in much of the Everglades.

With pythons and other wild invasive species like monitor lizards, iguanas, giant Gambian rats, rhesus monkeys, snakehead fish, walking catfish, and the occasional piranha, Florida is becoming a subtropical experiment in evolution.

Are they sure it’s not a coyote who identifies as a wolf?

Where does this lone wolf get his mate? Does he have to go back to Oregon and bring her back to Cali?

German shepards usually do well because of their protective instincts. At least that is what my father has found, with his two always vigilant against human and animal intruders but well-mannered with approved visitors.

Yeah. I fail to see anything good about this. Wolves are an ancient enemy of man...and of livestock.

“You can always carry a weapon when is a wilderness area.”

Open carry of a side arm is illegal in Kalifornia unless you are hunting/fishing with a valid license and in season.

Lol true enough! I haven't had pet coyotes but have had as many as 3 huskies at one time. Almost zero barking but can put out a first class howling for sure.
