They have been considering a couple of breeds in the 15-20 lb range, which I believe is too small for a rural dog. I hope they go a bit larger towards 40 or so lb.
Even 40 pounds may not be large enough. They do not want to give intrusive coyotes a fair chance in a fight.
We have coyote/Canadian red wolf hybrids that moved into the state about twenty years ago and show no sign of yielding to the expanding housing and condo complexes being built. Also, unlike coyotes, the coywolves are not shy.
Maybe shoot/shovel/shutup farmers, and bears will be able to keep them in line. Who knows.
I fish all over Northern Mono and Alpine Counties with Bears, Bobcats and Mountain Lions as occasional companions now I have to look forward to wolves as well? Should be interesting.
Wolves will definitely eat your live stock but the North American wolves don’t have the reputation of attacking humans like those in Europe.
Yep. Got my old fishing buddy. Mr. 357 Magnum.
Well keep a gun in you back back or ignore the law. We have stolen elections now and it is certainly a lawless time. Only the foolish follow the law at this point. And clearly unconstitutional laws at that.
Thanks for the ping null and void. Mono County butts right up to the eastern side of Yosemite Park and the popular John Muir Trail runs through the area. Many, many hikers and campers. Should be interesting. There’s also talk of introducing Grizzly bears into the region too. Sounds like fun.
