We were told that 2021 would be the year when everything starts to get back to normal. But that hasn’t exactly been the case, has it? It has been just over a month, and there is still chaos everywhere. We have seen a wild riot at the U.S. Capitol, civil unrest has been erupting in major cities from coast to coast, millions of people have filed for unemployment benefits, a president was impeached, and a crazy ride on Wall Street made “GameStop” a national phenomenon. That would normally be enough for an entire year, but we are still in the first week of February.
All throughout history there have been critical turning points when events have greatly accelerated, and it appears that we have reached one of those turning points.
In fact, this may be turn out to be the biggest turning point of them all.
Millions upon millions of Americans can sense that big trouble is ahead. For many, it is like a “gut feeling” that they just can’t shake.
Just a few days ago, my wife met a woman from the west coast that just moved here. This woman and her husband were desperate to leave California, and they felt very strongly that they should move somewhere safe.
What makes her story remarkable is the fact that my wife and I have heard similar stories from others countless times over the past 12 months.
Our nation is being shaken in thousands of different ways, and so many of us can feel that things are building up to some sort of a grand crescendo.
So that is why so many Americans are stockpiling guns, silver and food right now.

Three water barrels here. One from city water, two from the sump (or rain if needed, switchable). Sump water tests really good, btw — a well washed sand filter around this house, it seems. May add more barrels...
>>Canned foods lat much longer than two years.<<
Yes it does. I opened a can that was like a year over expiration one time just to see what it tasted like. Didn’t kill me or give me the skitters, but wasn’t a flavor explosion in my mouth either.
Seemed bland.
I never have tried it....but, I imagine I would, in a fit hit the Shan scenario.<<
lol..pretty disgusting....unless you slice it thin and fry it. It then becomes like super delicious. Seriously has the same consistency, crisp and flavor of bacon.
I did slice it a tad thicker one time, fried it (no frying oil necessary) and made a grilled ham and cheese sandwich out of it...pretty good also.

Unless of course they have a fortified position with lots of toyz of their own.
Allot harder to offend than to defend a hardened target, particularly when the defender knows what the hell their doing.
I prefer to use my canning jars for meat and tomato sauce, things that I don’t want to trust to the freezer.
No freezer burn nor loss of taste or significant quality for far longer than the freezer, and you don’t have to worry about the power going out and losing it.
Matter of fact, we have a set up using propane so that even should the grid go down, I can can up the meat in the freezer and save it all. It’s a really nice stand alone burner that will hold the canner and uses only propane.

Well, that’s me too. Meats, Tomatoes, Green Beans mostly. I do have some meats in the freezer. But I also have a coleman stove or rocket stove that I figured I could use to can it all up if we should have an extended outage.
I tend to freeze stuff in the summer, when I’m running the air conditioner. Then I can in the winter when I would need the heat anyway.
I started during the ‘0bama Reign of Error’ and now it’s second nature.
Actually, I started farther back than that; 0bama just sped up my timetable by about a decade. What IS it about Full Frontal Socialists that motivates me so? *SNORT*
The one who REALLY stockpiles is my Dear Old Mom. She grew up in the Depression, so she KNOWS what Hard Times truly ARE. The rest of us are amateurs. ;)
Even if it goes well beyond an expiration date (2 years) it’s still fine.
Food banks will take 1 year post expired dated food.
I have plenty of 1 oz silver coins that I guess I’d be fine for a few months if it became “currency”.
Food and ammo is worth much more IMHO.
Prayers to The One True God are priceless however!
Exactly!
The wolves are only here for a season.
Pretty soon, we’ll never have to deal with them again, and their problems will become so insurmountable and impossible to endure, that a life sentence to a Chinese Rape Prison will look like a Caribbean getaway cruise.

Ha. What we call prepping was just Mom and Granny’s way of life. That’s how I was raised.
So hubby and I always had several months of food in the pantry. Bought a quarter of beef for the freezer-that was a year’s worth for us.
We were preppers before that word came about. And we kicked it up into full gear when bammy installed. Started gardening, put in extra shelves and stocked up for even more months. Started moving toward as much self sufficiency as possible.
My Dad’s Mom and Dad had a small dairy farm. Never had an indoor bathroom, and I spent a lot of time down on the farm. Like you said, they really knew hard times and we are amateurs.
Bless you Diana!
Wish more people had foresight like you.
Actually, I have a great attitude. I just don’t play little games, pretending in a big event, financial collapse, a great depression, civil war etc, we’ll be able to trade gold, stocks while having enough time to prepare etc.
Oh, you mean fortified positions like police stations that were burnt down, the capitol being breached/overrun etc?
I don’t invest in precious metals. I prefer real-estate etc.☺ But thanks!

Well you sure have managed to hide that “great” attitude. I don’t think it’s pretending to go read and study about what happened in the history of such calamities, and what helped people survive.
And most of us have already been doing all of those things to prepare.
As I said you can go do whatever.
So does wax in a pinch and is reusable.
>>Oh, you mean fortified positions like police stations that were burnt down, the capitol being breached/overrun etc?<<
Yes, those fortified positions. They were breached and burnt because the defenders didn’t repel the offenders.
Lil different when the shootin starts...wouldn’t you agree? lol
Between the police stations being burned down and the Capitol being breached, how many defensive rounds were expended?
One
I think the confusion occurred when some folks suggested in a massive event/collapse, it won't be so bad, while suggesting people will still be able to trade/barter gold rocks for food, water, ammo, blankets, shelter etc. For the most part, that isn't going to happen because in an epic breakdown/collapse, most people simply won't have any need for a gold rock.
With roads blocked and no fuel etc, it would be like trading a Ferrari for 15 pounds of beef, or 500 rounds of ammo etc. I can assure you, for the most part, the demand in an environment such as that won't be for pretty rocks.
