#MeToo Comes For Martin Luther King
The American Conservative ^ | May 26, 29019 | Rod Dreher

Historians have known for many years that civil rights icon Martin Luther King had been unfaithful to his wife. But now, David Garrow, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 1987 for his biography of King, has unearthed previously classified FBI documents showing that King was genuinely sexually depraved. From the Times of London (behind subscriber paywall):

A huge archive of documents recently released from Federal Bureau of Investigation files exposes in detail King’s sexual activities with dozens of women as he travelled the country campaigning against racial inequality...

“And we don’t hear anything about a bureau run by a prancing cross-dressing homosexual for 50 years, and operating on blackmail.”

When the Russians threw their files open after the fall of the Soviet Union, it was discovered that the KGB started those rumors, and there was no truth to them.

Catch up.

Baloney, he lives alone with another man his whole life and took vacations with him. And he bequeathed everything he owned to that man. He obsessed about the appearance of his agents, even firing a few because he thought their face look like a longshoreman. Made agents get permission before they could get married, and made the wife meet his approval.. Queer as a $3 bill. Dress it up however you want, he was a pervert.

I have long believed that the blackout of discussion about Rev. King’s sexual behavior is related to the very low standards of sexual morality among many African Americans. It’s rather like Moslems with Mohammed: if he did it, it must be admirable.

In my experience and observation, you are correct. I’ve known several people in my lifetime who appeared to be completely asexual.

The tragedy for these people is that everyone else in the culture is so consumed with sex that they can’t understand that such a thing could be possible; so they project upon them their own private demons.

However, being ‘asexual’ doesn’t make anyone a saint; and I don’t think Hoover was a saint - I think he overstepped his legitimate bounds in some of his professional actions.

It was a different time, with different concerns, some of them very alarming/confusing.

But today, we have perspective, and can decide to do things in a better way.

Good Lord, did you have to lift up your hood to say that? LOL, yes MLK should have aspired to the standards of sexual morality set by white men. I want some of that Colorado wacky tobaccy you’re smoking.

Uncritical adulation of any person isn’t a good idea, given human nature.

They had a warrant to spy on King signed by Bobby, and rightfully so. There was no burglary, they spied on King all the time and several of his cohorts, as well since many were active members of CPUSA and on the list. When King requested a visa to Russia, ‘to meet fellow Baptists’ it was denied. lol

Kings organization was funded and directed almost in its entirety by CPUSA operatives, particularly Stanley David Levison. Levison was already under permanent surveill, so adding King to an eavesdrop was a given. He was King’s attorney on most matters, director, speech-writer, PR director and HR director. He edited King’s book and wrote a few chapters for him, without credit.

King plagiarized or stole much of what is credited to him. In one case 20/24 paragraphs verbatim! ...pretty ballsie.
The first public sermon that King ever gave, in 1947 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, was poached in its entirety from a homily by Protestant clergyman Harry Emerson Fosdick entitled- “Life is What You Make It.

MLK salacious news=== And it is not all the sudden. Every few years, more gets dumped out. Last year, the King files kept with JFK files fell out. -Orgies- hookers..., coercion of women to play lesbians/ homos for the pastors’ orgies. Prior to that, a doc. dump triggered news in 2013 and 2011.

In 1989, King’s travel room mate and cohort and the one who cradled his head before he died and then went on to resume the CR movement wrote an autobiography. It contained a chapter on King, the wife, King’s 3 girlfriends, the groupies and all the rest.— Rev. Ralph Abernathy.

He slept with 2 women the night he died at two separate places. He then returned to find his gf staring at his hotel empty bed, mad as hell at 7AM. They got into a physical altercation and King threw her across the room as Abernathy observes. I think she stormed out. King goes out for a smoke and pop pop pop. Either her or another King girlfriend shows and tries to climb into the ambulance with King’s body, Abernathy intervenes for King’s reputation.

How does any of this relate to POTUS?

Okay, you’re right. J Edgar was just an asexual man. Who was obsessed with the appearance of other men, and had a boyfriend who was also just like him.

Nice try, but the Attorney General does not sign warrants. A judge approved the warrant. The FBI had no legal warrants, this was well explored in the 1970s during the church commission investigation

I think also Hoover was so dedicated to his job, he was “married” to the FBI. I don’t think there were a lot of women who could have handled being his wife, and he probably figured as much, so he didn’t even try.

If all of that you said was true, the fastest way to disarm king would have been to take down the whites only signs. But it really wasn’t about fighting communism or any of that. It was about keeping segregation going and separate but equal, and the Democrat Party racism alive. Quickest way to end anything dr. King wanted to do what’s the let people sit on the bus and he where they pleased, and order a sandwich at Woolworth’s counter. But yeah, sure, it was all about fighting communism.

Assuming he actually behaved that way, why wouldn’t his many enemies have not exposed him way back then?

It doesn't. They are just trying to conflate Trump and MLK in negative ways while appealing to racist tendencies - either way - in some numbers of the electorate.

Why else would this old news have come out now, unless politically motivated?

Glad this piece has been posted. I previously thought these accusations were “a baloney sandwich.” I may have spoken too soon. But King’s personal flaws do not erase his accomplishments

But the thread is not about Hoover and his lifestyle, imagined or not.

It is about King and how he lived.

He was a blatant serial plagiarist his entire adult life.
He was a hedonistic sexual deviant by all standards.
He was a titled ‘Baptist preacher’ who disavowed all the major tenants of the Baptist faith both in his writings and speeches.
He was being funded and directed by several professed communists.

He was a charismatic orator and great advocate for Civil Rights.

When King came to Chicago in ‘66 for his open housing marches, he met with Mayor Richard J. Daley and made various demands. For each demand, Daley cited a city program already in existence. Afterwards, King complained that he couldn’t get anywhere with Daley, saying: “It’s like fighting a pillow!” Finally, he admitted, “It’s not enough for Mayor Daley to be doing these things, he has to let US do them!”
