#MeToo Comes For Martin Luther King
The American Conservative ^ | May 26, 29019 | Rod Dreher

Historians have known for many years that civil rights icon Martin Luther King had been unfaithful to his wife. But now, David Garrow, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 1987 for his biography of King, has unearthed previously classified FBI documents showing that King was genuinely sexually depraved. From the Times of London (behind subscriber paywall):

A huge archive of documents recently released from Federal Bureau of Investigation files exposes in detail King’s sexual activities with dozens of women as he travelled the country campaigning against racial inequality...

"Will his statue, like Kate Smith's, be covered"

No. That's the Chinese MLK, Jr. He was too busy slaughtering peasants in China to be philandering on his wife.

I think it’s a good thing to believe. I’ll do you the favor of believing the same for you...whenever you should also ‘move on’ :-)

Bayard Rustin was a brilliant strategist, pacifist, and forward-thinking civil rights activist during the middle of the 20th century. In 1947 as a member of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, Rustin planned the”Journey of Reconciliation”, which would be used as a model for the Freedom Rides of the ...

This guy..

King was not the only peaceful civil rights activist.

What good is that ‘truth’ going to do now, decades after the man died?

Judging from your comments, absolutely nothing, at least not to you.

exhorting people so effectively to peaceful, nonviolent change, as he was doing?

So the riots that followed him around were just a coincidence?

You do realize that violence was going to backfire, and they’d all get tossed in the slammer or shot. That was not going to end well for them.

MLK Jr. actually did defend urban rioting-the impulse if not the direct action-several times, including in an interview by Alex Haley, IIRC.

He was always thought as a counterpoint to the Black Power movement.

I have long known most of these rumors. They were largely rumors precisely because he was being actively protected.

The plagiarism was shown long ago.

There have been many other demagogues throughout history. Having that talent does not make one a genius. And it does not mean that someone else more honorable could not have served in the same place.

Have you every read (?) MLK was NOT as peaceful as they think he was.
Just ask his wife, whom he punched in the face the night before he was shot dead.

Ralph David Abernathy told the truth about King, and most liberals hate Ralph David Abernathy because of that.
Read that book.

In this case and at this time the Attorney General DID sign for the surveill.

Hoover went to JFK and explained that Levison, formerly the Treasurer and officer for CPUSA, was now working for King, and they wanted to a wiretap/bug.

Kennedy Bros. said they would talk with Martin. Both spoke with MLK and he refused to dump Levison. Bobby signed and that order was in place till the end.

I’m not sure how you equate Detroit slums in 2019 to Dr. King’s message of civil rights 50 years ago. Judging by content of character rather than color of skin is a standard to which all Americans should aspire. It’s fundamental to the American identity, and it was one of King’s fundamental messages.

So esteemed MLK historian expert civil rights author- David Garrow has been quite condemning of the FBI wiretap of King and has been defending King for 40+ years. BUT

But now, Garrow KNOWS the FBI tapes are authentic because they are 100% consistent with the new phone tap conversations from the file. Plus all the other incidental things happening in the life of MLK -witnesses, times, dates, people, places & writings collaborate these events. And he is going to write about before some tabloid with a FOIA request, gets there first!

The HOTEL room bug transcripts are now solidly confirmed by the wiretapped phone conversation transcripts which occur around the days of those sex events.

1. So the FBI tapes included the raping a church lady who is loudly protesting as King offers rape-advice to the other pastor with other fellow church women present at the Willard Hotel.

2. Another FBI tape has King forcing or coercing women into performing lesbian acts or sodomy acts for King’s group entertainment’ show at an orgy for fellow pastors in Miami.

These ARE the tapes which the FBI copies and then delivers one copy to MLK and a separate copy to Coretta King with a warning to cease his CR activities or risk exposure. (MLK rejects them and claiming to be invincible). FBI is anticipating mayhem for the upcoming Spring March on the Washington Mall. King died 3 weeks later.

So there were multiple copies of the same sex-episode tapes.

3. King’s dead and the King family and CR leaders want the tapes forgotten and buried for eternity. Congress, The FBI, Family & Friends, etc. know of their existence. This later becomes the bone of contention for years of debate regarding whether to establish that King was a saint and whether to declare the MLK holiday.

4. However, fast forward to 2011 and the release of JFK documents which should have no bearing on MLK. Wrong, They hid some of the MLK documents with the JFK classified files and now they have been consumed and circulated by the press and again in 2013 and 2017,... guaranteed that more MLK docs will pop out.

5. So the original sex tapes, as well as many others are now collaborated-confirmed again by 2nd or 3rd wire taps. King is recorded by phone tap bragging and reliving or discussing these same sexual activities and events to his friends in detail by phone. He is discussing what he and others did- the forced sex details, the orgies, women or attendees by name, etc. These sex conversations were tapped from the phone wires, not the bugs in the lamps at King’s hotel rooms. These recordings could be from wires at home or the office or hotel phones.

These various phone transcripts would confirm the original live sex tapes from the lamp bugs in the hotel room. In any case, they erase any doubt of the tapes or transcripts authenticity. And these transcripts were transcribed by multiple FBI agents, yet they refer to the exact same sexual activities —signed, logged, dated, etc.

6. Jackie-’O’ was referring to King’s orgy at the Willard Hotel as she called King ‘such a despicable man’ after hearing about the sordid activities from Bobby Kennedy.

As Attorney General, Bobby had signed the warrant for the FBI to tap MLK in 1962. Hoover asked for a warrant, the Kennedys refused and said, “Let us talk to him first. Their demand was for MLK to rid his organization of Communists, particularly Stanley Levison, who was a former office holder and the Treasurer of CPUSA. Levison was acting as King’s Chief of Staff and attorney. King refused to comply after speaking with both Bobby and Pres. Kennedy. Bobby signed the FBI warrant and the wire-tap remained in place indefinitely.

This is later discussed on the floor of the Senate with Sen. Jesse Helms challenging the debate whether to declare MLK a National holiday. Dems, especially Ted is condemning Hoover’s wiretap of MLK. Helms is laughing and telling Ted Kennedy he should be taking it up with his brother JFK or Bobby (both deceased) since they are the ones who authorized the FBI to tap MLK- LOL

Back to the present:::After shifting through mounds of overwhelming collaborating data from multiple transcripts, David Garrow- MLK expert admirer historian professor civil rights guru finally wakes up and has an epiphany that his hero is also a complete dirtbag.

Garrow makes the decision to out MLK now because of the #MeToo Movement or to straighten up his own record on MLK. As the premier historian of MLK, he has repeatedly ignored the truth which has always been in plain sight. He also defends and ignores the fact that MLK was a complete academic fraud that plagiarized most of what he wrote, often verbatim. Or Garrow is working on a new book and is cashing in on years of his research.

Camelot gone. MLK myth gone along with it.

Now we know why the MLK documents were poached from the general MLK file and mysteriously stored with John F. Kennedy’s forever shielded assassination records.

Call it -Kennedy’s posthumous protection.

So which Democrat (because they ran both houses at the time) suggested that the House Assassinations Committee examining the assassinations of JFK and RFK lump the MLK murder into the same investigation with the possible intent of sealing MLK information along with the others?

King did a lot of good work in the world, despite any personal flaws, and I believe that he has gone on to new and ever more enlightened adventures.

He did do a lot of good work.

And I am fine with forgiving - or not knowing about - marital infidelity. Famous men, traveling without their wives... I can let that go.

But if it is proven he was really abusive to women (cheering and laughing at a rape, for example), it tarnished every good he’s done IN MY MIND. I can’t enjoy Michael Jackson’s music right now, or Bill Cosby’s humor, even though if both were attributed to someone else and played to me I’d like them.

In my mind, there can exist “great, flawed” but there can’t exist “great, evil.”

The document shift may have occurred around 1977, in response to a lawsuit, so they were just kind of hidden there for protection.

The information I found was from David Garrow’s website. Scroll through his letters on King as they are in listed chronologically and I think it was the MLK Holiday topic.

Basically everyone in the room had heard that King had been living like a road show porn star. The Dems did not care because they saw how well the martyrdom of Kennedy had helped the party.
