Many FReepers have knowledge to share about improving and maintaining health and would like to share it and learn from others; and others may not know much yet but want to learn. Some of us don't have much money for good insurance or doctors, some want to try other methods besides prescription meds, and some have experience in treating and solving health problems.
More and more "regular" doctors have accepted treatment methods such as the benefits of acupuncture, massage for many conditions, better diet, use of herbs and so on. There are limits, and often side effects, to some standard medical efforts.
My field is Ayurvedic herbalism and related measures, and have a lot of information I can post when I have time. I have seen herbs and sometimes dietary changes help people (including myself) with issues such as rheumatoid arthritis, high BP, gallstones, kidneystones, repeated boils, UTIs, prostate problems, insomnia, allergies, urinary incontinence, and many more. I hope to learn a lot from others with their knowledge and experience.
There are many "old fashioned" home care methods that were in common use a few generations ago that actually work and are cheap, such as castor oil packs, fomentations using alternating hot and cold water, and the like, which are easy to do. I am sure there is a lot of knowledge here on Free Republic that can be shared.
I would like this thread to stay civil without distruption, so my request is that people who think natural health methods are bunkum, make your own thread.
Thank you so much for not only this detailed information, but also the previous post with all the cancer resources.
I really appreciate you spending the time to keep us up-to-date on this most important topic.
Really? OTC without a RX? Like in Mexico. I wonder how much it costs. I’ve read that with a prescription (haha have to prove one has the kinds of parasites it kills) a flat of 10 can cost up to $100. Insane.
Locally; you can get 30 for $50...there is a bit of a price break for larger quantities. I believe Tennessee is the only state that allows OTC sales of Ivermectin to its citizens.
Amazing. Tennessee must not be ruled by the AMA and the medical/pharmaceutical industrial complex!
I cannot get that site to load.
Here is their IndiaMart page, in case anyone needs it:
https://www.indiamart.com/sunrise-entrprs/
The prices are great. It is a bonus that they take pay pal, which should mean you can pay with a regular credit card if you have a pay pal account.
Thank you! This info is at least 2 years old (time has no meaning...) so I wasn’t sure if it would all be current.

Thank you FRiend,

Pinging the list - two herbs specifically for Parkinson’s but helpful in many other conditions as well. Shortly will be posting herbs helpful for lymphatic issues.
Herbs for Parkinson’s disease and other conditions. Some or most are Ayurvedic herbs, and if anyone is interested, just ping me and I will post links to sources.
Dashamula - means “ten roots”. Used to treat excess vata (air) conditions which are characterized by debility, including stiffness, rigidity, tremors, etc. Dashamula nourishes and strengthens muscles and calms the nervous system.
It is useful in treating fatigue, poor digestion, tremors, depression, anxiety, lingering fevers, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and inflammatory conditions of the pelvic region including low back pain and scitica. Also has a tonic effect on the lungs, useful for asthma and dry cough.
Kapi Kacchu (Atmagupta)
Mucuna pruiens
3-5 grams a day
Tissues: all tissues, notably muscle, nerve, reproductive
Indicactions: General debility, depleted tissues, low libido, infertility, spermatorrhea, impotence, tics, tremors, spasms, Parkinson’s disease, digestive discomfort, flatulence.
One of the leading herbs for rejuventating reproductive organs for men and women. Increases stamina, vitality, is a nourishing tonic to the reproductive system.
Improves strength and tone of msucle tissue and is specific for conditions where vata has spread into muscle tissue causing stiffness, fatigue, tics, spasms and loss of strength and tone. It has a long history of conditions of the nervous system including Parkinson’s disease and similar conditions that present with tremors and regidity. Modern research show that the seeds (the part of the plant that is used) contain L-dopa, the precuror of dopamine.
Combines well with other herbs that help pacify the msucle and nerve tissues like Gotu Kola, Brahmi, Valerian, jatamansi, and Ashwagandha.
Bala
Country Mallow
Sida cordifolia
Dosage: 1-6 grams a day
Tissues: acts on all tissues
Properties: Rejuvenative, alterative, analgesic, anti-convulsant, aphrodisiac, nervine, astringent, stomachic, cardiac tonic, mild laxative, dumulcent, vulnerary
Indications: Physical and mental debility, chronic fatigue, msucle atrophy, Parkinson’s disease, spasms, cramps, tremors, stroke paralysis, Bell’s palsy, low libido, nervous diseases, urinary disorders, bleeding, asthma, intermitten fever, sciatica, neritis, menstrual disorders, asthma, cough, general convalescence.
Precaution: Hypertension (in which case best used in formulas)
In Sanskrti, “bala” means “strength”. It is one of the best rejuvenative tonics for those of vata and pitta constitutions (fire and air). Bala nourishes and strengthens all bodily tissues, especially plasma, muscle, nerve, marrow and reproductive tissues, and helps correct disorders relating to deficiency and weakness of the body and mind. Commonly used for chronic fatigue, general debility, wasting diseases, muscle atrophy, neurological conditions, convelescence, and for the elderly.
It helps to maintain normal muscle tone and coordination, and relives cramping and neuromuscular pain. Combines well with Vidari and Ashwagandha. To relieve severe symptoms of vata in muscles and nervous tissues, such as tremors and cogwheel rigidity as in Parkinson’s, or clasp knife rigidity as in stroke paralysis, it combines well with Kapi Kacchu and
Ashwagandha.
Is a gentle bronchidilator and help in asthma and dry cough, and bolstering weakened lung energy from chronic upper respiratory disorders, and used in intermittent fevers. Also useful in osteoporosis and osteoarthritis (I would use with others herbs as well).
It also promotes mental energy and stabilty, can provide relief from daily stress and tension, and when combined with herbs for the mind (list upon request) acts as a mental tonic.
(WHY AM I NOT TAKING THESE DAILY? I’m going to start. I take in formulas but will increase amounts)

Information primarily for lymphatic disorders; I’m in a hurry so I didn’t have time to post many other uses for these herbs. As usual, ping me if anyone wants sources.
Kanchanar Guggulu - one of the several guggulu formulas. This traditional compound is based on the herb Kanchanar used for clearing accumulations in the lymphatic and digestive systems. Used for lymphadenopathy, cysts, fibroids, swollen lymph nodes in neck, goiter, lymphatic and sinus congestion, benign tumors, and hemorrhoids.
Haritaki
Chebulic Myrobalan
Terminalia chebula
Dosage 3-9 grams a day
Tissues: acts on all tissues
Systems: digestive, respiratory, excretory, nervous
Indications: Cough, asthma, hoarseness of voice, fatus, abdominal distention, malabsorption, constipation, eye diseases, liver weakness, spleen diseases, heart disease, skin diseases, nervous system disorders, edema, parasites, prolapsed organs, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol, skin ulcers, leucchorea, spermatorrhea, obesity.
Precautions: pregnancy, severe exhaustion, dehydration
I will post more about Haritaki tomorrow but posting the most relevant to one FReeper now.
It is commonly used to increase the digestion and absorption of vital nutrients, burn toxins, dispel flatus, and promote regular bowel movements and healthy well formed stool. It helps to cleanse and nourish plasma and lymphatic tissue.
Notes on a few for lymphatic tissue:
Eucalyptus can help with lymphatic congestion, a tea from the leaves.
Burdock
Arcticum lappa
Tissues: plasma, blood
systems: lymphatic, criculatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary
Conditions: Eczema, psoriasis, rashes, acne, liver diseases, fever, lymphatic congestion, nephritis, edma, hypertension, gout, arthritis.
Both the seeds and root are deeply cleansing to the liver, blood, and lymphatic system. (I have never seen Burdock seeds for sale, but I am never without Burdock root powder. It can be grown easily and is often found as a “weed”, not to be comfused with Yellow Dock). I will post more about Burdock soon.
I will post links to sources today.

I did have low functioning thyroid for quite a few years, and my sister’s thyroid went bonkers and she had to have it removed and takes the replacement, can’t remember the name. I started with some of these herbs, and in a WEEK felt better. Hair and nails got better, felt actually HUNGRY for the first time in years, wasn’t exhausted all the time.
A couple of sources. These are not cheap...but probably cheaper than Rx. If you want to try some, maybe try one first and see how you feel. Currently I take Kanchanar and Triphala gugs. daily.
Bulk Kanchanar (cheaper than tablets and I prefer powders anyway). Out of stock at present.

I just ordered a 90 day supply of Kanchanar Guggulu tablets. I have two benign tumors on my thyroid. Otherwise, my thyroid is working properly. I have a family history of thyroid problems and so I want to be proactive with it. Thank you for this tip!
