A little over a week ago, someone attempted to blackmail me. On August 12, I received this message in an e-mail:
...I infected your system with a trojan and now have all of your private data out of your operating system.
It previously was set up on an adult page then you have selected the video and clicked on it, my program instantly got into your os.
And then, your cam documented you soloing, also i caught a footage that you've seen.
Just after a little while this also pulled out your device contacts. If you ever wish me to clear off your everything i have got - transfer me 450 dollars in bitcoin it is a cryptocurrency.
At this moment you will have 24 hours. to make a decision The minute i will receive the deal i'll get rid of this footage and every little thing entirely. Otherwise, you should remember that your video is going to be submitted to all your contacts.
Though it wasnt the case in my instance, to heighten the level of threat, sometimes these e-mail scams even contain passwords used by the recipient. This is a new type of scam dreamed up by criminals seeking to prey on those who, because of their immoral behavior, have made themselves vulnerable to such a scheme.
Having never before received such a message, I was taken aback. However, because I knew that I had not done what the accuser had claimedand because of the bad grammar and other cluesI was never frightened that the threat was real. I suppose a clear conscience is worth at least $450.

"The boot cleaner"
"The Sun Shield"
"The Pet Rock"
"The Tennis Ball" - Garage Parking Assistant
Simple/stupid tends to pay for some people.
I got that one.
I sent them wife’s email adress. I told them she would love to see the video. She might learn some things.
Same here.

When I lived in Seattle, I was at my workstation at work using, as usual, the laptop monitor and a large desktop monitor. One day I noticed the little light was on next to the camera (This was 9 years ago). I taped over that thing and have done it ever since.
“The Price of Porn: Its Probably Higher than You Think”
tru dat! prices of the good stuff have gone through the roof!
Yes, I know this, but I don’t think it’s possible without turning the power on and booting the OS to load the drivers.
My laptop spends about 99% of the time behind a corporate firewall or powered-off in my backpak.
Now, the smart phone is a different matter. I’ve been told that as long as the battery is connected, the mic and camera are live.
That can only be possible if the carrier has an embedded OS that is operational regardless of whether the phone is powered on. I don’t know if that is the case.
Virus can not install on data files. All you need to back up is data files. For example there is no way to shove a virus (executable file) into a text file.
The executables (susceptible to viruses) can be installed fresh from original medium.
I have been using this method since 1996, and do not buy a virus protection program because they always slow down my computer. I have picked up a virus only once in 22 years. Because I am careful of downloading anything I do not recognize.
Thanks for that belly laugh!
Cameras don’t hear anything. Just saying.
What? You don't trust Apple or Google, or the Chinese?..............

LOL!!
Nope!
Apple and Google are VERY bad actors.
Mics do...................
You need to incorporate a glass eye into your routine.
Beasts hahaha
Thank God I’m not eating or drinking.
I told him to put in a glass eye
Reminds me of the punch line of an old joke.
(I’ll keep an eye out for ya)
In the early days of IP video conferencing, nearly every board room was wide open. They did not know that the cameras and microphones on many codecs were on if there was power to the system. The A/V IP networks had not “converged” in to the data IP networks, and the IT staff would not go near the A/V equipment, and thus there was zero security. It was a hoot if you knew the systems. Since board rooms were tightly scheduled and locked, they were a favorite place for an amorous interlude. Many a hilarious peeping was had.
That’s brilliant. Give them the feeling they are being watched too.
unfortunately someone took over my computer and streams that. My cat seems enjoy it.
