This is a prayer request for my youngest daughter who has been diagnosed with an agressive breast cancer and is facing a bilateral mastectomy this wendesday followed in 2 weeks with removal of her ovaries. Unfourtunatly breast cancer runs in the female side of the family. Her Mother is a 20 year survivor but her Grandmother and Greataunt passed away from it. Any and all prayers are welcome.

I hope I can pass some of the good will that the blessed FReepers have shown to my family on to this young child.

That is so sad that one so young has to endure a pain inflicted by (IMO) man. The government should be held responsible for the harmful affects of nuclear testing and waste. They knew seventy years ago the affects of the fallout from radiation.
I’m praying for everyone who is suffering from the dreaded disease - Big C.

Funny you should mention nuclear testing. A sibling and I are considered “Downwinders,” but while I have Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, she has fybromyalgia. The one sibling who did have cancer was already out of the house and in the navy before we were even born.
The great-granddaughter of my friend is a descendant of a man whose entire family is prone to cancers, but they were from New Mexico.
It is well known that southwestern Utah has more than it’s share of children with Down’s Syndrome. And remember that most of the cast of “The Conquerer,” which was filmed in southern Utah, died of cancer.
However, cancer has been killing people for centuries. We hear more about it now because of the technology that wasn’t available before. It used to be termed, “a lingering illness.”
My personal belief is that there is more damage done to our bodies by the preservatives and chemicals in our foods than what radiation does. And remember: radiation is used to help rid the body of cancer.

Yeah, that's the one strange twist in it.
However, the earth has been bombarded since it's creation by radiation. So it could still play a factor.
And your theory on "preservatives and chemicals in our foods than what radiation does" may not hold water if cancer appeared before the use of those.
However I do agree with you that many of our problems today are most likely the result of chemicals and hormones in the meats, foods, etc
Regardless of the cause I think it's beyond time "that scientist find a cure". Or at least a better treatment...the crap the medical field has about treating us with a medicine that is worse than the disease/condition we have is kind of lame these days.

There already IS a cure for cancer, but because it can be cured, the medicos won’t make any money, so it isn’t available.
About 10 years ago, I saw a segment on PBS about a researcher who used heat, directly on the tumor, and after one or two sessions, the cancer was gone.
Doctors and pharmagiants don’t want to cure anyone. They want to make you dependent on their drugs, and that allows them to get rich. I have so many side-effects with prescription drugs that I just quit taking them. Period.
This is truly a case of “the cure being worse than the disease.”
At the beginning of the 20th Century, diabetes was almost unheard of in this country. Now, it seems every other person has it. Heart disease was minimal as well, because people lived off the land and worked hard. Only the well-to-do were obese, and the worst most of them had to deal with was gout.
It may have confused you when I said the chemicals and preservatives in food did more damage...not necessarily cancer, but hardening of the arteries, liver disease, kidney problems...the list is endless. When the chemicals and preservatives in the food enter your body, they stay there.
That can’t be good!
