All I want for Christmas is a healthy son.
A very simple prayer. May Our Lord grant it freely and soon.

I think you already have the recipe. Just use toothpicks to hold the bacon on.
This is a good source for recipes, too.

Squid, simmered in a nice red tomato sauce for about 3 hours and served over linguine with a romaine lettuce salad and some wine.

From when we lived in Houma, LA.
Christmas Gumbo
- 1 pound smoked andouille sausage
- 1 pound fresh gulf shrimp
- 1 pound Louisiana crawfish
- 4 cloves fresh chopped garlic
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
- 2 tablespoons of salt
- 1 cup wine
- 2 quarts freshly cut okra
- 2 quarts diced tomatoes
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
- 2 cups rice
Add all ingredients except rice into a crock pot and set on low. After 6 hours, add 2 cups rice. Let cook two more hours.Take everything and throw it out back on the compost pile because the okra ruined everything.

Christmas eve is Sashimi. Lot's of it; salmon, hamachi, uni, blue fin tuna, sea clam. Christmas day dinner is a delicious roast pork shoulder, green beans and roasted mini potatoes.

LOL! I like okra!Good for you. I think okra must be like root beer. It's something you have to grow up with to appreciate.
Not long after getting married, my wife and I moved from Ohio to Houma, LA where I had taken a job with an oil services company. That was where both of us had out first experience with the regional delicacy okra. At first, it was nauseating! Over time, we both developed an ability to eat it in order to not appear rude and better fit in amongst locals.
She eventually did much better than I with the stewed okra. I have to grudgingly admit that some fried okra dishes I had were not bad but they were never what I would call good because of the association with stewed okra.

Bacon and Cinammon swirl french toast for breakfast. A lobster for lunch.
Dinner is “The Sandwich”. Capicola, Proscuitto, Ham, Genoa Salami, Provolone on Itialian bread, with very old balsamic, EVOO, lettuce and tomato.
