Just curious. All week long in our area code 570, the internet has been goofy. Verizon has been denying there was a problem until today. The strange thing is, some people with Verizon are fine, some are not. You get on the internet for 10 minutes and then you get kicked off for a few hours, or as little as a few minutes. It's a random thing. And then the other thing is, some people's internet is just fine, yet others are not, all in the same area. How is that? Usually if there is a problem it gets fixed in a few hours yet this has been going on since around Tuesday.
Well, it's you.
Let me go check and see if my computer is turned on. I’ll let you know what I find out.
No, but I have lovelife problems. Wanna talk about them?
...so here's a picture of tourist guy and bigfoot.
Are you logged on?
It was very slow at times yesterday for me. Could not figure out what was wrong. Took forever for web pages to load and print (when I wanted). Road Runner broadband service.

Are you dial-up or wireless? I have wireless and whenever the weather kicks up, it disrupts my internet signal.
That second post took forever. ;)
Yes...all day yesterday. At first I thought it was just FR, but it wasn’t. It has been like this off and on for a couple weeks, actually, but yesterday was terrible. I’m Time-Warner. Ugggh
My internet was off for about 6 hours today, don’t know why.
My husband battled the wireless system all day yesterday and the day before. Couldn’t get my daughter’s wireless to get a decent signal. But we’ve been having troubles off and on for the past half a year. We’ve had troubles in our town and the extended area also, although the last couple days it seems it was just our house.
Our neighbors were using our wireless so my husband tried to set it so we didn’t have to worry about them sucking up our signal and going bad places with it. Now they’ve got their own signal and he’s wondering if it’s interfering with ours.
Also 570 area code here...It happened to my landline phone and internet a couple of weeks back. I was on the phone with my daughter who lives around the corner when the phone went totally dead. I checked the computer and could not get online. My daughter’s phone and internet were dead too. The phone came back in about 45 minutes, then I had to reconfigure the computer with a Verizon technician later the same day. The phone company said there was a service outage in Lancaster (?) and another town I can’t recall, it also happened here but the woman on the phone kept insisting it only happened in the towns she was telling me
About a week later it happened again through the night but was back in an hour or so. There was no rain or anything either time.
Today, my internet has been erratic, but I blame that on the storms/tornados down south. We aren’t affected here per se, but it seems that anywhere there is bad weather, the internet goes bad.
When I had Verizon, it seemed that every time a dog took a wizz on the telephone pole, my phone service would go out.
Yeah, it’s been strange. I’ve been on now for about 45 minutes and have not been kicked off yet. This has been going on all week. We have friends who have been experiencing the same thing but others in our area have not. It was not until today that the Verizon recording said there was an outage in our area, but never had a problem like this before where some people have the problem and some people don’t, and then it being a random thing. In the past if it went down it was just down for a few hours and then fixed. Now you get on and you never know how long you will be on before you get kicked. Once kicked it could be minutes or hours before you can get back on again.
Having it be out all week like this has been so frustrating. You realize how dependent you are on the internet. My wife and I have been going to McDonald’s and Starbucks just to use their WiFi. Seems to be just a Verizon thing, but then, not everyone with Verizon within the same area. That’s also what is weird.
Almost two weeks ago my Suddenlink cable was going on and off, the router-modem kept blinking. It went on for 4 days. After two calls to Suddenlink they finally said they were having satellite trouble, that the satellite had ‘moved’ or something.
I don’t understand it but when it finally got corrected I had a new little internet icon in my taskbar and the old one was there but showed ‘not connected’.
This post may or may not be of any interest to anyone, lol.
It's possible, but the fix is easy. There are 11 channels available but if your neighbour's router is the same brand as yours, they're probably using the same channel. To fix it just go to the router's admin page (usually http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1), go to the wireless settings, and there should be an option to select the channel. Changing the channel will solve the problem. You may need to reboot the PC and router after making the change.
Nope. I have an iMac, so I never have any problems. ;>)
Of course you had to know that you were going to get more lip than help with that post... LOL
Seriously, I haven’t experienced any issues.
Good luck.
