Hamilton, Ontario, Jan. 28, 2005 (CNA) - Canadian archaeologist Russell Adams, a professor at McMaster University has recently unearthed evidence, which helps to show the historical accuracy of the Bible.
Professor Adams and his team of colleagues have found information that points to the existence of the Biblical Kingdom of Edom existing at precisely the time Scripture claims it existed.
The evidence flies in the face of a common belief that Edom actually came into existence at least 200 years later.
According to the Canadian Globe and Mail, the groups findings mean that those scholars convinced that the Hebrew Old Testament is at best a compendium of revisionist, fragmented history, mixed with folklore and theology, and at worst a piece of outright propaganda, likely will have to apply the brakes to their thinking.
The Kingdom of Edom, mentioned throughout the Old Testament, and a continuous source of hostility for Biblical Israel, is thought to have existed in what is now southern Jordan.
The group made their discovery while investigating a copper mining site called Khirbat en-Nahas.
According to the Globe and Mail, radiocarbon dating of their finds, firmly established that occupation of the site began in the 11th century BC and a monumental fortress was built in the 10th century BC, supporting the argument for existence of an Edomite state at least 200 years earlier than had been assumed.
The evidence is also said to suggest that the Kingdom existed at the same time David, who scripture recounts as warring with Edom, was king over Israel.
Who is the prophet Emmanuel?
Jesus. All that is necessary is contained in his Word.
16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
The individual the Greeks refered to as "Jesus Christ".
"All that is necessary is contained in his Word."
Including His appointment of Apostles, right?
If His Word is sufficient today, why wasn't it then?
Yes! It is a fairly simple process. The applicant must provide an original, stamped Baptismal Certificate. The individual then writes a letter to the Eparchial bishop indicating their reason for requesting a canonical switch of rites. The prime motive [for changing rites] must be love for the Eastern tradition, and a desire to fully embrace it and live it out. Once the bishop receives this letter, he then forwards a copy to the Diocesan bishop for his approval. When that is received, a formal document is signed along with the signatures of two witnesses. This document formalizes the change of rites and is then sent to the Vatican. It is then recorded and an official notification is sent to the parish where the applicant was first baptized. A new Baptismal Certificate is issued bearing a stamp indicating the official change of rite. (At least that is what I have been told. A Roman Catholic may participate at any Eastern Catholic liturgy and fulfill their Sunday obligation. It is not necessary to formally switch rites. I have elected to make the switch and have just written my letter to the bishop. It will be reviewed tomorrow by my pastor before being sent to him. I will let you know how the rest of the process works.)
As to why someone would want to formally switch rites, there are a multitude of reasons. There was an excellent online article but the link has now been broken. Personally speaking, all aspects of the Maronite Tradition have drawn me into a deeper relationship with our Lord and His blessed Mother. The Maronite Church and especially its liturgy, has captivated my heart and soul. It is now my home. A canonical switch of rites simply formalizes the process.

Can you be more specific and provide scripture reference.
Well, just look at what I posted fgrom your citation. The early Church had need for Apostilic authority, correct?
"Personally speaking, all aspects of the Maronite Tradition have drawn me into a deeper relationship with our Lord and His blessed Mother."
Try as hard as I can, I cannot comprehend how one can have a relationship with Mary the mother of Christ.
??? help me.
I believe your question has already been addressed in an earlier post. This is not unique to the Catholic Church. It occurs in Protestant and Jewish denominations as well. The big difference is that the MSM has focused their 'laser' beam on the Catholic Church because of its stance on homosexuality. And, just in case you are not aware of where the Catholic Church stands, you can learn more here:
Homosexual unions are totally lacking in the biological and anthropological elements of marriage and family which would be the basis, on the level of reason, for granting them legal recognition. Such unions are not able to contribute in a proper way to the procreation and survival of the human race. The possibility of using recently discovered methods of artificial reproduction, beyond involving a grave lack of respect for human dignity,(15) does nothing to alter this inadequacy.
CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING PROPOSALS TO GIVE LEGAL RECOGNITION TO UNIONS BETWEEN HOMOSEXUAL PERSONS
And ... for the record, here is one MSM story regarding a Baptist minister who was 'caught', sexually abusing a young boy.
Validates my comment.
You agree with yourself only...
You quote Acts, I excerpted from Acts where Apostolic Bishops "considered" the matter. Why was a Bishop needed in that first century but not today?
"Hail Mary, Full of Grace, the Lord is with thee."
These are the words of the Holy Writ. If even Martin Luther could understand the relationship of the Virgin Mary to Our Lord and our relationship with her for His sake, why can't you?
I find no reference to "apostolic bishops" in all of scripture. Please provide scripture reference so that i may understand your point.
