If you know, was Merle a democrat?
My father has asked me about this, and i admit, it is intriguing.

G'day up there.
This would have been about forty years ago, set in rural north Texas, so if the local officials thought that Merle Binion passed the smarts test, he would certainly have been a dim/dem.
In 1966 there were so few pubbies in Texas that I was able to become a precinct chairman and delegate to the state convention with the overwhelming votes of my parents and myself at the ripe old age of twenty. This was the election that sent John Tower to the senate as the first pubbie from Texas since reconstruction...and there class, is your history lesson for the day.
Cheers.

That actually has some sort of semi-comforting haunting melancholy feeling to it.

Here's a
link I believe you'll enjoy if you're as fascinated by the ancients as am I.
Plus, they've got an store for The Institute for Idiotic Pursuits which has some allure.
