Hi Mom.. I finally hit you live.. I have been planting the Morning Glories and Moonflowers every year. I love them.. I have put the Moonflowers right next to my kitchen door in tubs with other flowers and they smell so sweet and when you come in at night you can see them.. The flowers are huge too and climb right up the house on trellises or strings.
So glad to see you back and kicken. Missed your posts like everyone else.
I'll be home in a couple months and hitting the gardens too.. Oh, my back.. ;)

Careful there Habs, in some circles I know of, that could be a compliment.
Right now I'm busy with resurrecting an army of undead so I can create more havoc in the current slush storm screwing up my area.
Like the idiot drivers here aren't doing a good enough job on their own.

I did get a package of arugula seeds also, as arugula appears to be quick growing....this will my first time planting arugula so hopefull things will go well...
Produce from the garden, always tastes so yummy....I just love it...
To: andysandmikesmom
Do beware of the pod people.
Never know if the seeds you're planting might turn around and clone you.
Then a doppleganger of you will be roaming around, and we'll never know what happened to the real you.
And then there'll be the odd requests for mulch and miracle gro...

Yes, I am now live....and glad to be back...
It seems not a lot of people know about the Moonflowers, and yet they are one of the nicest flowers to grow....and you are so right, the blossoms are just huge, and can be easily seen at night, and are just lovely when the nite sky is clear, and the full moon is shining, and the flowers just seem to shimmer and sparkle in the moonlight...and the fragrance is a lovely bonus, as so many flowers just dont have any odor to them...
To: Darksheare
Darks...you are so funny....pod people coming, and dopplegangers of myself popping out...what a scarey thought...

The slug mode, from time to time, is the way to go. Good for you.
Always remember, a task delayed, will not go away...it will still be there when you feel more chipper.
Cheers!

This is a twining vine grown as an annual and it can grow as high as 20 feet or more in a season. Oval- to heart-shaped 8-inch leaves surround fragrant, white flowers that can grow to be 6 inches across. They are shaped as a trumpet, open in the evening and are usually closed again by noon. Easy to grow and very rewarding. Try growing them up a tree trunk or garden fence for a beautiful summer display. Seeds must be clipped or notched or you may soak them in warm water for 24 hours before sowing. For the best flowers use a low nitrogen fertilizer. Once established, this vine is drought-tolerant. In Zones 9 and 11, the moonflower is often a perennial.
Very cool - I'll try it this year - thanks.

Actually, I could sure use some of those 'plant people' to help with the yardwork...
That article had 'Twin Peaks' in the title...you know, when they filmed Twin Peaks, the waterfall that they showed at the beginning is right up near here....its called Snoqualmie Falls, and its really beautiful....
We have had so much rain lately, and then the temps have been warm enough to create spring thaw on the snow in the mountains...so the rivers are really full, and in many cases overflowing their banks...
Hence, Snoqualmie Falls, on the Snoqualmie River, is bigger and more beautiful than ever...in fact, they even showed it on the news last nite, ,because right now its so spectacular...
To: lodwick
You will love them....and Mrs. Loddy will be soooo appreciative....

Mom.. by the time she gets old enough to worry about, I'll be having a dirt nap.. ;)
I'm going to miss her first birthday by just a couple days. Maybe they'll hold back the party for us.. ;)

Now I will tell you how I grow my morning glories and moonflowers....they do need support because the vines are so long....
I have several Rhodie bushes on our property....for whatever reason, one year two of them died, in that they no longer produce leaf or flowers...but they are still so grand looking, even bare, with all the many, many gnarled branches intertwining....and they are several feet high...
So what I do is I grow my morning glories and moonflowers at the foot of these Rhodie bushes....when the vines start growing I just started weaving them around and through all the gnarled branches of the Rhodies, and secure them with twist ties...that way, the bare rhodies serve as the trellis and anchor for the vines, and look quite lovely...we thereby avoided having to remove them from the ground(because they are dead), and they have been given a second life, as an anchor for another type of plant life...recycling at its best...
To: andysandmikesmom
Yeah.. Honestly I am wondering where to find the "Podwick People".
I need a good henchman to lug stuff around.

The Hormone Driven Lands?
She wandered through the door of the airport, unaware of the fact that she ended up on the wrong flight and was now at the wrong destination.
