Seems baaaad weather may be heading your way.. Good luck.. I love storms tho..they can be fun for awhile.. Especially if you don't have to go to work after them..

Thanks for the kind thoughts friends - they are appreciated.

After battling advanced Parkinson's disease for the past two years, it was time for Mrs.L's dad to leave this life for his next one. The services were perfect and the skies cleared for the interment, the AirForce honor guard, and all that goes on at a career military funeral - quite moving stuff when the flag is folded, the seven man rifle team fires three times and then Taps is played. Something I'd not seen before was when the head of the honor guard when out and retrieved three cartridge casings and tucked them inside the folded flag.

Thank you all, again, for the good thoughts and wishes. JL

And thanks for the Tanq Gran - that looks like just the ticket. Cheers!

Hey, I love snow. Send it in. I can take it! (running to Bahamas)

Loddy, I've never heard of empties being tucked into the flag either. Was he a combat vet?

"The hawk is diving today" is a military term for "it's Da*n cold outside today!"
Also means that you were stupid enough to forget your 'snivel gear'.
Yes, I did. Yes, I regret it.
And yes, certain parts are still cold.

But over the summer we had a Northern Harrier harrassing the local woodchuck population. He wasn't supposed to be here, but harriers and all similar hawks/ hawk like birds are opportunists. If there isn't any competition in the area, they'll go there.

The guide books are always wrong.

Thank you. I have no idea what Gran is talking about. ;-)

How much snow are they predicting up there? Once upon a time I enjoyed winter storms, but those days are long gone. People cannot drive in snow here around the Beltway. Rush hour becomes a demolition derby.

Snivel gear is your 'nanook of the north' coat and thermals.

And I forgot mine today. (20 degrees outside.. with heavy breeze....)

Not sure. At the moment, they aren't saying any snow predicts for my section of New York (Cowards! Come out and predict like men!)

I love my brother-in-laws description of snow driving in Georgia. He grew up in the north before moving down there.. and the cops can't drive in the snow. No-one knows how.

Ohhh.. thank goodness.. Never give me an opening in my mind for things I can't quite put my finger on...

The reason I'm down here is I have no Snivel gear.. My snowmobile suit and boots burned up in the house fire. I am bereft of Snivel gear now..

Now I have to search for the elusive Manatee.............. and other things.. ;)

I still have snivel gear from my Nanook of the North days in CT. People down here wear snivel gear before the temps ever warrant it, I've seen gloves worn here when it's still in the 40's ;-)

I've become a major weather wimp myself, but I'm not quite that bad. Yet.

Thin, Chocolate Mayo cake with Coffee frosting.. If you don't hear from me again...you'll know it was tainted.. ;)
