lysie ~~~ I got goosebumps just reading your report ..... I can only imagine how inspiring and emotional it must have been to actually be there!

ALL ~~~ if you haven't seen this thread, I highly recommend it ..... and if you can, click on the link near the top and listen to that haunting version of the song that I will now always associate with 9/11.

Hint: have the tissues handy.

Morning!

lysander - Excellent! Glad you enjoyed it so much.

Raven - So Will Ed Bryant keep his House seat? Or did he give it up to run for the Senate?

Just remembered: Labor Day...Anniversary of Bush's Labor Day 2000 "Clymer" remark. LOL!

Isn't it great that the media continues to give us so many candidates for the "Clymer" of the Day/Week/ Month??!! sigh....

sorry it wasn't a rousing start.

No need to apologize, I am thankful you took it upon yourself to get us all going this morning. I appreciate it.

Have to restock the fridge and cupboards today. Mrs. Chairman and I will be leaving for the store soon.

Thank you. Glad to be home. It was a nice vacation, but it is always good to return to the nest.

Prayer needed. My brother called my mom yesterday to report that my nephew was in a bad car accident yesterday. The front of his car was hit by someone who ran a red light. The police said if it had struck further back, he probably would have been killed. As it is, he has cuts and bruises and a crack in his leg so is wearing an inflatable cushion cast.

This nephew, in my opinion, needs something to shake him up. He hasn't had a real stable home life as he's lived with his mother after she left my brother. Seems like not too many good values ever made it very deeply into him. I appreciate prayers for him.

I'll call my brother soon to find out more. Today is his birthday.

Thanks for that link, Molly. What Weinberger said is just what I was telling my sister about why going to war is important. I don't think Saddam's direct threat against the US is the big issue, although people keep focusing on that. It's what trouble he can cause in the region and eventually become a bigger threat through nuclear blackmail that provides good reason to take him out now.

Thanks for your prayers, you two. I'll report on my nephew when I get more.

I'm still very unfamiliar with my new employer, Vanderbilt University. But just now I came across this editorial which I consider good news about the new university president.

Vanderbilt's Politically Incorrect Chancellor Bucks the System

Thanks for the ping to the Frontline on Faith show. Have posted the info to my church's listserve, and am hopeful it'll be a worthwhile show, even if Frontline....

Okay. Back to work.

http://www.skeeterbites.com This is a site where you can type in a zip code and get the "skeeter forecast" anywhere in the US.

According to this, skeeters are heading for Oregon.....well, that coincides with the report we are actually going to have a chance for rain tomorrow...figures.

Prayers to all who are in need.....

We found something interesting buried in the study we cleaned out this weekend: An old protest flyer from the late 60s at the Univ. of Ill.

It says SMASH ILLIAC IV,

and promises workshops and teach-ins and members of the Black Panther party, members of various anti-war groups and music all day!

These flyer were routinely handed out on the Quad, and neither my husband nor I participated in these events. That's my disclaimer! LOL!

Probably need to send this off to the Univ. archives, where I once took a class and worked........
