This Labor Day let us remember those who worked to help build this great country of ours.
We took three Sudanese to church with us yesterday. There's a couple that just arrived 2 months ago who came. She doesn't speak English and is very reserved and expressionless. Her husband, though, is very outgoing and smiles a lot. The third guy who came is younger and left during the break without an explanation. His friend said he had to get to work. Anyway, I hope to check up on them often to make sure their adjustment to a very different life is going OK.
Can sympathize with you about the Mariners. They seem to have runout of steam.
Thought that probably Alexander won. His opponent was one of the House Managers, Bryant. Hope he can stay in the House???
g6 - YES!! Excellent idea about Rice.
Good morning you 2.
Have to get going. We're headed out to breakfast and then to the farm store to get fresh corn.
Let's see.....am I sympathetic? Do I feel sorry for the poor guy...a victim, no doubt?????
NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Morning ALL :)
John, I was just kidding the other evening.....I really like the chef uniform !!..Really!
MAINSTREAM REPUBLICANS VS. "HARD" SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES ON FR
Morning Guennie!
Gulf... Blessings to you, my friend. Many of us are in awe of you!
Thanks again, Nita for beginning this thread.
Storms ripped through here overnight, and more are on tap for today. Thankfully, with this next batch of storms it will start to cool down.
My daughter and I enjoyed most of our time at our local parade on Saturday. I did however see some things that were incredibly disturbing by some of my colleagues while at the parade. Let's just say that they were very selfish, and completely intolerant to the community, and to Republican candidates who were at the parade.
I wrote a long lengthy bandwith about it yesterday morning to you all, but decided to delete it. (Descretion is the better part of valor?...) I know that some people have not figured out what's important in life, and I am afraid these include colleagues of mine! Enuff said.
Blessings to you all!
MM, yes, that is a thread each should stop by and see, it's up to the 700's already, tho not too surprising.
The show was great. The opening was spectacular.....lights of red ,white and blue. Short videos of speeches made by FDR, JFK and President Bush were displayed on large screen. On the same screen there were pictures of WTC.... then....our military jets. :-) In the background Brooks was playing the National Anthem on his flag designed quitar....thousands of fans stood as 6 Marines came to the stage to fold the Flag. The applause was deafening.....Poof....red white and blue streamers ALL over the place while they were singing this song.

Sun coming up over New York City.
School bus driver in a traffic jam.
Starin' at the faces in her rearview mirror.
Looking at the promise of the promised land.
One kid dreams of fame and fortune.
One kid helps pay the rent.
One could end up going to prison.
One just might be president.
Only in America,
Dreaming in red, white and blue.
Only in America,
Where we dream as big as we want to.
We all get a chance.
Everybody gets to dance,
Only in America.
Sun going down on an LA. freeway;
Newly-weds in the back of a limousine.
A welder's son and a banker's daughter.
All they want is everything.
She came out here to be an actress.
He was the singer in a band.
They just might go back to Oklahoma,
And talk about the stars they could have been.
Only in America,
Dreaming in red, white and blue.
Only in America,
Where we dream as big as we want to.
Yeah, we all get a chance.
Everybody gets to dance,
Only in America.
Your post reminds me....
My daughter and I approached the Pataki's(NYS Republican governor) campaign exhibit for signs and bumper stickers. She has now signed up to recruit young college students at her school. :-)
John Michael Montgomery was there, too.
HOB, the groups had a person sign as they performed. John Michael's signer was a woman. She was so good. Kept in time with the music...truly poetic in he signing.
Well, John must have thought she was good, too. He climbed over a speaker...climbed up a scaffold... just to get on the platform where she was. He gave her a big hig and kiss.
Great to hear! I admire the courage of your daughter, and you.
Hope your day is a blessed one.
