The only points you get in the Lounge are if you can find a spot or a position that HASN'T been used before. I knew there where no points left in this place. I hope you pay the cleaning lady well.

Our central air unit took a dive on us. We've got a window unit in the bedroom and one in the living room.
It keeps the humidity down, and makes sleeping reasonable, but not much more.

I hope you get your A/C fixed soon, She-it is really worth the money to run the thing, since most modern houses have not been designed for cross ventilation, aided by fans. Our present house certainly isn't, but I took great care to design our new one that way to save money and aggravation, plus it is cooler in the hills 25 miles from the city. The trade-out is that it is a lot colder in the winter, and the roads get too icy to drive on more often-oh, dear, I will have to work from home on the computer more often, damn... But I love winter-summer is not my favorite season.

Ouch, you too? Having just replaced ours, I fully appreciate living at a barely tolerable temperature until money is available to replace the thing. Have another beer, and think cool thoughts-hopefully you will be able to replace the unit soon!

Thanks!!! We're going to try it.
This guy is really serious and is seeking my help - I like hanging out in his place - so I'll do what I can to help him.
We're trying to avoid using courts and lawyers (that costs money) aand stick with the language of the statute for right now.
But thanks for your good wishes.

Knowing the statutes is an excellent way of providing the holier-than-thou with a much needed reality check about freedom of choice (for everyone). Please keep us updated on this-I love to see the "new puritans" get their asses kicked.

You're a wonderful person - Thanks for all your help.
I've got to call it a night - partly because I spent some time earlier today in a real smoking lounge!!!!

Have I posted that all and sundry should *NEVER* purchase *ANYTHING* from Walgreen's unless you're going to die, because Walgreen's won't sell a pack of cigarettes without ID to obvious adults, and then lie about their policy? I'm 48, look 48, but a chickie of like 17 wouldn't sell me a pack, and neither would the manager. Both the manager and Walgreen's corporate lied to me about why. No problem - I just no longer shop at Walgreen's for *anything.*

A great get together!
I got to meet The Right guy, Slip18, Cyberliberty, Fred Mertz, a lot of others, and even met AnnaZ.
Laura Ingraham gave a great speech. I don't know of any other group that she would come talk to with less than 300 or 400 people EXCEPT FReepers.
We had a good time and I got some pictures. I won't be able to post them until at least next week but I'll do my best.

Gotta hit the sack now. It's 1:00 am internal time, so good night all.

Texan, the thing is: we don't HAVE air conditioning up here. A lot of businesses do, but most don't. And it rarely gets above 75 degrees up here in the summers, so it's not worth the investment.
We have ceiling fans in every room, which are a big help. But when it gets up to 90-96 degrees, its just too much.
It is supposed to cool off Monday, so I am praying to make it until then. heh!
We have AC in the SUV and the Van, but I just hate to waste the fuel to sit out there. Oh well, I shall survive. hehe!

I wish you all could have been here.
Las Vegas is one of the most smoker friendly places I have ever been.
People smoked during the presentations, during lunch, and during breaks in both the ballroom and the hallways.
A lot of good information was put out. For some of us it was information that was already known but this put it into an organized framework.
The speakers seemed to know their subjects and put the information into terms that everyone could understand.
Lunch was delicious. A variety of food was served buffet style and the desserts were outstanding.
I got to say hello to JimRob as we were breaking up for the day and thanked him for allowing us to put up the Smokers' Lounge on Fridays. I told him that while I was not the person who had asked for this privilege, I knew that someone had and that I was grateful to be able to carry it on.
All in all it was a good day and I got to meet more FReepers, had a good meal, and took about 10 pages of notes and got four or five handouts.
Again, I just wish all of you could have been here.

Joe, we all sure wished WE could have been there as well!
Thanks for the update! I know that Vegas is about the only smoker friendly town left across the U.S.! It is for adults, after all.
Glad your having a good time! When do you fly back? Let us know when you get back!

For those of you that watch the webcast of the awards dinner and want to see if you can catch a glimpse of me, look for the fellow in the black suit with the French blue shirt with no tie.
The wife will also be there, she's a small Philippina women with a white top and black flowered skirt.
