Friday marks as sad milestone.
It was 30 years ago that TWA Flight 800 exploded in midair off of Long Island minutes after taking off from John F. Kennedy International Airport en route to Paris

It was shot down. There were videos and now vaporized.
Another lie, I think it was the FAA who claimed that the plane continued to climb after the front 30% of the plane was blown off. That’s their story and they’re sticking to it. Also, eye witnesses say the missile was launched from the exact area where the US Navy had ships doing war maneuvers. No wonder they needed to cover it up, that kind of information would’ve ruined Bill Clinton’s presidency.
Yep, shotgun blast nearby. Planes being thin skinned, easy for the thousands of explosive driven bits to damage something vital to flight.
Though I understand the old heat seeking Sidewinder was known to sometimes fly right up the exhaust of the target before detonating
How many people on a Navy ship would have known if they had shot down TWA 800?
Odd that no obvious shills turned up on this thread. Maybe they all retired. Maybe there’s no more USAID funding for this old story.
Yeah, right. Sensors in fuel systems are “intrinsically safe”, meaning they don’t draw enough current nor operate at a voltage that can cause a spark.
How many eyewitnesses saw what the investigation said happened?
prove it
My college roommate, who was from Long Island, would always ask,”who was on that plane the establishment/government viewed as a threat?” That generated many interesting conversations and speculations. Regardless of those, no one will ever convince me that was not a deliberate act.
Hundreds along the Long Island shore testified to the FBI that they saw a missile exhaust come up from the sea and explode at the aircraft.
Nelson DeMille wrote the “fictional” book “Nightfall” about it.It was an instant best seller that I would highly recommend if you have not read.
Of course, Nelson DeMille is one of my favorite authors and all of his books are best sellers.
The ending of the book is maybe my favorite of all time.
I will just say it ends with a trip by the main character, an FBI agent with an appointment in lower Manhattan on September 11, 2001. Incredible writing by a guy from Long Island.
How many eyewitnesses said they saw what the investigation said happened?
You don’t know that because your mind is made up (and closed) that the plane was shot down by a missile. You completely exclude any evidence to the contrary.
I have made no claim either way, you have. Prove it, using and including ALL the evidence, ALL eyewitness testimony, ALL testing of materials, months and months of detailed examination.
I’ve read that book though did not recall the title.
Thought it was entertaining but could not vision rouge FIB going off on their own and iirc one agent was a chick?
For me, the author could not figure out how to end the book so took the easy out out with a meeting of FIB white shirts in the twin towers on 9-11.
Yes. My favorite DeMille book. Was about to suggest it too.
“I believe Iran was responsible. There is ZERO chance that it was a center wing tank explosion. ZERO.”
I do not know who was responsible, I too have excluded the center fuel tank. I do not know who funded or fired the surface to air missiles, or why.
Boeing ran high and low voltage wiring in the same bundles. These bundles chafe in their raceways as the plane flexes and expands and contracts over thousands of takeoff and landing cycles. One of the crew members even mentions an instrument issue prior to the explosion that could be attributed to short circuiting wires. It is conceivable that the fuel quantity instruments were shorting to high voltage wiring for cabin lighting.
It was the FAA, NTSB and the FBI who investigated TWA 800 explosion
No its not, because and intrinsically safe sensors are fused right at the safe/unsafe barrier. Instrumentation is my life’s work, and I know it well.
Planes are nose heavy by design. The center of gravity is always ahead of the center of lift for stability. The elevators are trimmed to push the tail down for level flight.
Which way do you think the plane should go when at least a quarter of the weight of the plane is blown off the front of the plane with all four engines at takeoff thrust?
The fuel quantity measuring system on that 100 model did not have intrinsically safe barriers. It was built in 1971.
Nonsense. I encountered those barriers in the 1960s. I bet the aerospace industry was an early adopter.
