"Free thought" is a philosophical viewpoint which holds that positions regarding truth should be formed on the basis of logic, reason, and empiricism, rather than authority, tradition, revelation, or dogma.

FYI, an old remedy for keeping fleas and ticks off of dogs and cats is brewer’s yeast.

I put about a 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon in my cat’s food daily. Much less scratching during tick season, and it makes coat very soft.

My friend here in NJ reported the other day, after getting her pit mix onto brewer’s yeast just a few days ago:

“So the yeast seems to have cut down on the infestation... I give her a tablespoon in her food. Makes her gas stinky. But that’s okay. Instead of 20 ticks, we got down to 2 or 3 on walks.”

She is firmly against pet big pharma products for her dog (no collars or pills), so she was using all kinds of essential oils and whatnot, sprayed on the dog... to no effect.

The photo shows the NOW brand that I currently use. There are other brewers yeast powder brands.

There are also tablets that are flavored, that some dogs and cats like and are effective. (See reviews for Naturvet tablets.)
This is a very inexpensive remedy to try.

Is that brewers yeast or the kind made for human consumption that tastes good? I used to add that kind to my cats’ food, I don’t think they ever got ticks. We used to have many ticks on our property until we fenced it, without fences we had many deer roaming around, they often had ticks.

I’ve been using a tick spoon for decades to get the entire tick off safely. Works great! Have several around the house and keep one in each vehicle for when we travel.
