The last time temperatures in Tampa, Florida, reached or dropped below 32°F was on January 13, 2011. During that event, temperatures dropped to 29°F, causing ice to form on the Veterans Expressway. While a significant cold blast occurred in January 2018, the most recent official 32-degree (or lower) reading for the city occurred in 2011. That was fifteen years ago.
It was 2 when I woke up here in the great Midwest and it’s been under freezing for what a week, 10 days now but it’s OK, it’s WINTER and it’s good, it’s lovely to have seasons, it reminds me of just how great and wonderful God is for He made all of this, including the snow and I am grateful.
We won't get above freezing until sometime between 10 A.M. when the temp is supposed to be 31 and 11 A.M. when the temps are supposed to be 37.
For now, it loks as if Monday will be our last sub freezing day. I hope that prediction is correct.
The rest of the week every day is predicted to be above the freezing level.
Because of quantum uncertainty absolute zero is unachievable. Even classical thermodynamics won’t let you get to absolute zero. It is impossible in principle to extract all the thermal energy from any gas, the best you can do is approach complete efficiency.
Miami Herald says there will be some die off, but nothing like 2010. That was a 10 day cold snap...
22 degrees in East Texas. And no tic-tac-toe boards.
PING to FF! *BRRRRR*
I was leaving my parents in 2011, I believe, and drove back to Dallas. They live about an hour north of Tampa near Ocala. I had to scrape my windshield of ice. It was warmer in Dallas.
23 just north of you in Sugarmill
Probably close to 40 years ago there was an ice storm in your area. There was a guy who drove over a bridge in St. Petersburg and he spun out on a bridge. He got out of the car, slipped on the ice and fell over the guardrail. He got run over by a semi. Watch yourself.
Tom Brady played a Super Bowl at absolute zero, and he was relieved he couldn’t be blamed for all of the footballs being deflated. He was awarded the Hiesenberg Trophy.
No golf for you..
32 degrees? At those temps I swap out my UGG Boots for my Flip Flops up here on ‘The Frozen Tundra,’ LOL!
I’m sure this isn’t doing your ag crops any good. :(
We’ve just been through two full weeks of nothing but sub-zero temps. Yeah - it got old - FAST! Our normal winter temps are in the mid-20’s, which is more than doable. (SW corner of WI)
P1*V1/t1= P2*V2/T2+
Hilton Head/Bluffton SC….19 degrees this morning, two/three inches of snow. Awesome full moon and beautiful landscape this morning @5:30.
Algore said the oceans would rise 6’ by 2020 and Miami would be flooded. Greatest fraud in history.
23 in Orlando when I woke up this morning. I thought I was back in Seattle LOL. So much for global warming, we’re in the reverse.
Four degrees in the Kenosha WI area (away from the lake). That’s actually warmer than it has been the last couple weeks. Wish it was 32 degrees here even for a high.
How many days of this cold could it take to see the flying critter depopulation occur to where some there might not have to swat at something for a time?
Nights are cold but daytime is sure better then here in Upstate where we're freezing our butts off.
The 11 year sunspot cycle is peaking right now.
My cat told me. She is always looking out the window.
