Re: Owning a home costs...
Yes, after factoring all those things, replacing roof, HVAC, appliances and just general upkeep, we pretty much recouped what we had invested over the 40 years we lived there.
We used the sale to buy in a nicer, quieter neighborhood so a good deal in the end. Also left some in savings which was nice.
If we were looking to do the same now, I don’t think we could and would still be in the same house.
I too feel for the young of today and pray that things change for them.

I feel ya bro. Went rural to get away from the noise, lights, and knuckleheads. It’s surprising how many people out here leave their friggin outside lights on. Briefly considered a little 22 target practice.
Its OK. We can't see most of the galaxies and nebula comets and star either, but we do have technologies like telescopes and cameras to see them for us! If we missed them we just sit in our warm rooms and look at pictures taken by someone sitting on a mountain top or on frozen tundra, and be glad we have volunteers with cameras to record these events for us!
