Could Tyler Robinson have killed Charlie Kirk?

Posted on 09/14/2025 12:25:26 PM PDT by MisterMagic

There are a lot of people talking about not seeing Tyler Robinson leaving the rooftop with the rifle. But I don't see anyone asking if he could even made the shot. I'm no expert, but taking a single shot and killing your target at 200 yards requires more than a little experience shooting a gun. At that range the bullet is going to be affected by wind (if there was any), by a drop of several inches (or more) due to gravity, and shooting from a higher elevation is going to require compensation.

Where did Tyler Robinson learn enough to shoot at that distance?

There is literally video of the guy jumping off the roof and running through the nearby neighborhood. Come on.

Have you done any shooting?

My husband could make that shot, I could make the shot, all the cubs could make the shot, my mother could have made that shot.

It is not that hard.

He was a young man who knew how to shoot, had a decent rifle and a scope the distance was not that far.

Well, I play PUBG, and in this game one of the buttons has your character hold their breath while scoped in to an enemy to improve the accuracy of the shot. So I wouldn’t totally throw out how a video game might of helped the shooter. If he were a novice, he would at least know that you need to control your breathing when you take a shot. I don’t believer Tyler was anywhere near a novice, probably is an expert shot.

He was a good shot, his dad was law enforcement. They practiced.

I use a laser to site my rifle. It looks like a cartridge and it shoots out of the bore.

That gets me pretty close.

Of course, i don’t stick my rifle down my trousers and walk around. I think that might have “adjusted” the zero. LOL

You should have stopped at “I’m no expert”.

“taking a single shot and killing your target at 200 yards requires more than a little experience shooting a gun.”

My nephews could do that, and farther, when they were 12. Grew up hunting deer. Ditto for every boy and some girls, in my school. I believe this Tyler freak lives in hunting territory.

I wonder if his gaming had him looking through scopes at human targets.

how bout shooting from a higher elevation & then squeezing it under the tent canopy to the target sitting several feet back under the tent

At two hundred yards, if he were say 10 feet back into the tent, then each 10 feet of elevation the shooter had would only make a difference of about 2 inches from shooting straight in.

"There are a lot of people talking about not seeing Tyler Robinson leaving the rooftop with the rifle."

Watch the rooftop video. He had something with him and that something was likely the rifle he used to kill Charlie.

Robinson had experience with weapons.

I can’t recall exactly… I did basic trading at Fort Knox, passed. I actually missed “expert marksman” by 1 shot. A little chipper too, 50 yards I was so excited as it was the last shot I lost my cool and shot high. LOL

Anyway if I recall with Iron sights on the M16 I could hit a torso sized target at 300 yards over 50%. At 200 yards with a scoped rifle or really good Iron sights it would be relatively easy.

My guess is he was aiming for center mass and “missed” high , hitting Charlie in the neck.

PS
I never had any “active” service, just FYI.

Indeed. Just as I cited in my own comment somewhere in this thread…

>>>You want to assassinate someone from 200 yards in a prone position you don’t need to be a Seal Team 6 sniper.

He was 142 yards away. 426 feet. Anyone who has had any amount of training with a rifle, who understands the respiratory pause and squeezing the trigger, could make that shot.

I keep hearing “But it’s a human” and “It’s different if it’s alive” or any number of other things. If I can hit a ground hog at 300 yards, I can hit something larger at 142. I am not “super marksman” I’m just an average guy who has some experience. Something I could probably teach anyone inside of a few hours.

Even Walz could make that shot. Robinson was heard bragging about his long distance shooting ability before he murdered Kirk.

Oh, Lord have Mercy! Go get some real range time! You'd love it!

Yes, holding your breath is necessary for a long shot as long as you don't hold it too long. That comes with your first shooting lesson.

On the video of the supposed gunman climbing off the roof a person is visible walking along the parallel road at screen right.

Every basic training soldier learns to knock down 200 meter pop-ups within the first week of shooting. That kid had much more training than 1 week. And the shot wasn’t even that good
