Besides making you essentially a renter, it is also a tax on unrealized capital gains. I get no real benefit from increased market value of my home. Realistically, unless I sell my home every time it’s “value” goes up I lose money. Even realizing the gain when I sell it is smoke and mirrors since I have to buy another house which also has an inflated value.
Your constitutional right to the ownership of private property is grossly violated every year when you get that bill. Pay up or hit the street prole.

Property Taxes are a huge cash cow many States and School districts...Might work in FL that has many revenue streams but like Arkansas, Mississippi,Louisiana and other States with few revenue streams this is a non-starter.
All money is fungible. There is really no accountability that shows your property tax directly funds any school.

I’m for that! We bought this farm 40 years ago. We paid it off in ten years. We pay taxes on it every year and we are so rural that we have barely any services. Oh, the County mows once a month in summer but that’s it.
I just signed 38 acres over to my daughter and SIL and only kept the house, outbuildings, and five acres. They do the farming now because I am OVER it. It’s fun when you are young but not at 70. I hope that helps on my end.
Sales tax is at least equitable...Of course if you have 5 babies with 5 fathers...it might hurt....but even now, you get a child care credit...so there are solutions....but someone has to pay for them. So will tariffs turn things around.

Taxes on SS were non existent from 1937 until 1984 when the democrat congress started them. then in 1993 they increased - democrat congress. Congress can repeal this BS
