The subject of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel has fascinated Biblical researchers for centuries, if not longer. One theory which started becoming popular in the sixteenth century is that some, if not all, of these Ten Tribes migrated to ancient Britain.
The theory is much less popular today than it once was. However, it has experienced something of a resurgence in recent decades.
According to proponents of the theory connecting the Israelites to the Britons, the Cimmerians can be identified as the deported Israelites. There are two main pieces of evidence for this. The first is that they appear in the historical record in the same place that large numbers of Israelites were deported to, and at the same time. The second piece of evidence is that the Israelites were supposedly known in Assyrian records as the “Khumri” which is remarkably similar to “Kimmeroi” the Greek name for the Cimmerians.
Promoters of this theory claim that the Israelites are known as the “Khumri” in the Assyrian records. But this is not the case. They are known as the “Bit Khumri”. This is a very important distinction. The word “Bit” means “House”, while “Khumri” is a form of the name “Omri”, a powerful Israelite king from before the time these records were made. So the Assyrians referred to the Israelite dynasty as the “House of Omri”, because Omri was an important founding figure. This is equivalent to the expression “House of David”, used in reference to the southern dynasty. The Assyrians evidently referred to the Israelites by this term because Omri was a powerful king who left an impression on them.
In contrast, there is no evidence that the Greeks had ever heard of King Omri.

Some background.
I came upon Dr. Scott in 1982 when I got a C-Band satellite dish.
He was a teacher as well as preacher and he had the credentials from Stanford.
The filmmaker Werner Herzog even made a documentary on him which used be available on Tubi.
He was an intellectual who was raised as a Pentecostal.
He was an acquired taste.
He walked a fine line of not directly mocking the gifts of the spirit or the glossolalia.
As an aside he often said that when Oral Roberts laid healing hands on someone they really shouldn’t need to have a “catcher” that God would take care of them all the way down to hitting the floor.
As far as this British “identity” theory, he did teach on that.
But he often taught things in such a way as to show the question being addressed was worthy but the conclusions of those presenting the question were invalid as they were sensationalized to promote and sell the theory or the book for the self-interest of the presenter.
That was certainly the case when he taught Holy Blood, Holy Grail which laid foundation for Dan Brown’s book the DaVinci Code and the movie starring Tom Hanks.
In teaching that book he separated what was the real history regarding the Knights Templar and what was the utter fiction upon which Holy Blood, Holy Grail preposterously ended.
On Bible teaching he was on the firmest ground as he taught Paul and put Christian faith entirely on the resurrection and Paul’s invocation that if Christ not risen, our faith be in vain.
His choice of women led to an unfortunate private life.
He would often in his conversations with himself, ask his audience are you familiar with the Devil, well I married his sister.
As for his second wife he married a Filipino who ran off with her riding instructor which was before Prince Harry was fathered by Princess Di’s riding instructor.
His third wife was a one time porn star.
She took over his ministry and became a preacher who still preaches.
It was my understanding that she destroyed the thousands and thousands of hours of video tapes of his teaching which was too bad because I think they would have still have engaged generations who never had access to his teaching.
In many ways his programming foreshadowed podcasting.

The author’s conclusion is based on a false dichotomy.
The fact that the Britons’ story doesn’t hold water DOES NOT prove that they ARE NOT the descendants of the Israelites. All it proves is that their story doesn’t hold water.
The only way to prove that the British ARE NOT descended from the Israelites is to prove they ARE descended from someone/something else, and that requires genetic/DNA proof.

The Scots also claim to be descended from the Israelites. Some believe that the Stone of Scone/Stone of Destiny/Coronation Stone is the same stone pillow Jacob rested his head on when he had his ladder dream (another non-testable hypothesis).
How would you get genetic proof. The Nation of Israel was peopled by tribes other than those of Judah..the Jews. Related distantly, but then again how about modern day Jews prove they are from the Tribe of Judah?
Jews claim to be of the tribe of Judah. There were 12 Tribes, they lived in Israel. The Northern Kingdom, conquered first by Babylon, and carried away. The Tribe of Judah was left in place, and the royalty were carried to Babylon at a later date. Israelites are different from the Jews.
It will take time and effort to study the Written Word to see exactly what the Heavenly Father had penned. First read Genesis ... when Jacob gave to his sons their future ...

The punishment for the ‘whoring’ after other gods was the remembrance of who they are ...... hello ... world... BUT Jacob’s words in Genesis 49 was NOT erased.
There is NO way all the children of Jacob/Israel would/could literally fit in that small piece of real estate now called Israel.
