The president plans to take at least 10 actions related to the border or immigration, including ramping up deportations and suspending refugee resettlement.
The U.S. government will no longer recognize the citizenship of children born in the United States to immigrants who lack legal status, one of 10 immigration-related executive orders President Donald Trump plans to sign Monday, an administration official told reporters.
The official did not provide details on how the administration planned to implement a change that scholars say would be illegal and quickly challenged. Trump’s order would reinterpret the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which grants citizenship to all people born on U.S. soil, and exclude babies born to parents illegally in the country. The changes would apply to future births, the official said.
Trump will issue other executive orders that will ramp up deportations, restart border wall construction and send U.S. troops to patrol the 2,000-mile boundary with Mexico, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity under ground rules set by the administration for a call with reporters.
After Trump is inaugurated, he plans to declare a national emergency at the southern border. Trump will then issue orders to restart the “Remain in Mexico” policy of his first term, designate drug cartels and gangs as foreign terrorist organizations and suspend refugee resettlement in the United States for at least four months, officials said, reading a list of Inauguration Day actions and orders.
The Trump transition team official who spoke with reporters said the new administration also plans to “end asylum” and quickly deport anyone who crosses the border illegally, work more expansively with state and local law enforcement to detain and deport migrants, and seek the death penalty for any undocumented immigrant who commits a capital crime...

Not attempt, will end.
14th Amendment was to give former slaves citizenship.
It wasn’t an invitation to the world to invade.
Executive orders can be reversed by next president. We need a law passed, or better yet a constitutional amendment ending birth rights for non-Americans.
Said another way, no more anchor babies for WaPo for at least four years. American citizens coming first for the leftist rags, choke on it.
I listened to some NPR discussion about this last week. The guest and host were very educated-sounding, if you know what I mean. And this issue, according to them, is the hill for all self-respecting blacks, and black-respecting non-blacks to die on. It is all about RACISM, pure and simple, by President Trump, who is a hopeless RACIST. Just the camel's nose under the tent to on a march to God knows what unholiness.
There was NEVER birthright citizenship for foreigners.
If executive orders can be reversed, can their pardons?
It's a good move, but don't expect it to take effect right away.
Ten bucks says that it reaches SCOTUS
Yes but...will the next President have any electoral reason to reverse this?
What will he run on, the terrible injustice of not giving citizenship to some illegal alien’s kid?
Not a lotta traction in that one.
The interpretations of the 14th Amendment in Wong Kim Ark and the Dicta in Plyler v. Doe were made in the darkness of turgid legal opinions by the SCOTUS. The citizenry had no idea that these decisions were being made or they would have opposed them. It was only years after the fact that the reality started coming out: the “court” had sold us out.
Once it entered the political debate arena again, it’s a slam dunk: no one wants line jumpers to be rewarded. And any Rat candidate who wants to try to run on that line will find it a losing proposition.
Clarification by the Congress is needed, but for the moment, an EO directing the State Department is enough. Sure, there will be a lawsuit. Peter Schey will likely come out of retirement foaming at the mouth. But this time everyone’s watching, and it’s not 1975 anymore.
I expected these E.O.s to be signed today - Newsmax has a header, “Trump to sign flurry of executive orders” - but all he signed were basic government business documents.
Hopefully, it will be challenged in court, and the SCOTUS can rule on this once and for all. It’s always been a stupid assumption that was never supported, IMO, by the language.
Buddy... THIS is WINNING!

Pardons cannot be “reversed”.
It’s about F***ing time
A Supreme Court decision would suffice.
Can he make it retroactive?
I don’t doubt that
We will see what happens.
