Trapped astronauts show first cracks with haunting plea from International Space Station

The American astronauts who have been stranded in space for seven months have hinted at the toll their unexpected mission is taking.

Butch Wilmore, 62, and Sunita Williams, 59, were heard telling NASA bigwigs 'eventually, we want to go home' during a video call on Wednesday.

The pair first landed at the International Space Station (ISS) on June 5 and they have been stuck there ever since.

Their visit was only supposed to be eight days long. But due to safety concerns, NASA decided to send the Boeing Starliner spacecraft they arrived on back to Earth without anyone inside.

In August 2024, it was decided that the left-behind astronauts would return home on a SpaceX aircraft in 2025.

On Wednesday, Wilmore and Williams joined fellow astronauts Nick Hague, 49, and Don Pettit, 69, at the ISS to share more details about their lives in space.

The astronauts participated in a video call with NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy.

Williams shared how she and Wilmore have been feeling about their shocking circumstances and adapting to their extended space stay.

'Yeah, eventually we want to go home, because we left our families a little while ago, but we have a lot to do while we’re up here,' she revealed.

“”Yeah, eventually we want to go home, because we left our families a little while ago, but we have a lot to do while we’re up here,’ she revealed.””

Boy - is that ever sugarcoating it!!! They’ve been up there for 6 months and they still have a lot to do??? They’ve already spent a lot more time there than planned so how much more is needed to be done?

Sure it doesn’t do any good to stress about still being there but they are human, aren’t they? ANYONE in similar conditions would express frustration/irritation at the inability to do ANYTHING about their situation - normal human emotions. THAT isn’t normal! Must be something in the air!!!!

We currently have no way of getting to the ISS without SpaceX. The Russians are not likely to give us any more Soyuz rides.

These two are likely to defect to Russia if this keeps up.

“NASA decided to send the Boeing Starliner spacecraft they arrived on back to Earth without anyone inside.”

Should have gone on it....pilgrims. Skeletons can’t do much research.

Their mistake was to go on the mission while NASA was run by the democrat Nelson who focused on moslem outreach and DEI training.

“”Except there was not even remotely any “haunting plea”.””

You’re right - that’s why I clicked on it and not an ounce of normal feeling about the situation they’re in - not normal at all IMO...

The Russians might not even consider this a hardship.

The longest mission in space was 437 days — by Russian cosmonaut Valeri Poliyakov on the Mir space station in 1994 and 1995. That record has stood for almost 30 years.

“Personally, I think the government has given up on the astronauts. They know that THEY aren’t bringing them home so anything that is done will have to be done by Elon Musk. So, the “powers that be” should probably stop their war against Musk since it is his company that is going to have to try to rescue these two.”

Their return flight was booked with Musk months ago.

Boeing needs to get its stuff together...

The executives at Boeing can't even ensure an aircraft hatch is designed properly or that it's bolted in correctly and inspected.

And LA Officials can't even ensure the fire hydrants have water in fire prone areas. Competence is an aberration these days.

Their space suits were not compatible.

And they said this wasn't a government job.

“t’s not a good thing that America’s entire space capability is in the hands of one man and his company.”

Better than a 1,000 person government bureaucracy. This ain’t your grandather’s NASA that got us to the moon.

you still believe we were able to send men to the moon and bring them back, when we cannot even bring a man and woman back from the orbiting space station ?

I know, I know the govt would never lie about something like that.
