Researchers have finally decoded a Babylonian tablet thought to be the oldest map of the world.
Created between 2,600 and 2,900 years ago, the Imago Mundi provided researchers with a unique glimpse into the beliefs and practices of the ancient civilization.
The Babylonian tablet has a circular map with pieces of text written in cuneiform - an ancient writing system that used wedge-shaped symbols - which describes the early creation of the world.

If Prof. Irving Finkel is commenting on it, it’s bound to be an important and interesting subject.
Ahh, the "Great Turtle" creation - then it's turtles all the way down....

“Two circles surrounded Mesopotamia on the map and were labeled as the Bitter River to indicate that Babylonians believed they were the only nation in the world”.
Think of the inhabitants of NYC.

Think of the inhabitants of NYC.
LOL...YES!
Stan Lee went out for a pack of Ziggurats and thought up the idea of scorpion man.

the bull man depicted almost certainly refers to the Minoan Civilization which would of existed at the same time
Part of the cuneiform text also alludes to the Babylonians’ belief that mythical creatures including a winged horse, a sea serpent, a scorpion-man and a bull-man lived in various regions throughout the land.

Were they real? Ancient astronaut theorists would say yes
They could see “the mountains on the horizon” but the tether of the “known world” kept them from going past them?
I agree, it doesn’t make sense. We know they were seaworthy and traded with the south and the east. Probably as far as Africa south and we know for sure the Indus valley and further to the east.
'So you have, encapsulated in this circular diagram, the whole of the known world in which people lived, flourished and died,' Finkel said.
The Babylonians were completely unaware of the Egyptians, Hittites, Minoans and Mycenaeans? That doesn't seem likely.
“the bull man depicted almost certainly refers to the Minoan Civilization which would of existed at the same time.”
There we go, Absolutely. They are not literal mythical creatures, they are the symbolic representations of cultures. Just like we have the Eagle representing our nation.
Who is Einhorn? BTW, Einhorn means unicorn IIRC.
winged horse, a sea serpent, a scorpion-man and a bull-man
I think that is what these are referring to. I am surprised the “experts” wouldn’t think of that.
bull man is so obviously Minoan
historically, but now it would be a man wearing a dress ;)
“The Babylonians were completely unaware of the Egyptians, Hittites, Minoans and Mycenaeans? That doesn’t seem likely.”
They were trading with them. Even beyond the Indus Valley. So were the Sumerians before them.
