Millions of people have long suspected it, but now a leak suggests that out phones really are listening to us.
An apparent pitch deck from one of Facebook's marketing partners appears to detail how the firm eavesdrops on users' conversations to create targeted ads.
In a slideshow, Cox Media Group (CMG) claims that its 'Active-Listening' software uses AI to collect and analyze 'real-time intent data' by listening to what you say through your phone, laptop or home assistant microphone.
'Advertisers can pair this voice-data with behavioral data to target in-market consumers,' the deck states.
The pitch deck goes on to tout Facebook, Google and Amazon as clients of CMG, suggesting they could be using its Active-Listening service to target users.
Since the story broke, Google removed the media group from their 'Partners Program' website.

Amazon responded to 404 Media by stating that its ads arm 'has never worked with CMG on this program and has no plans to do so.'
But the spokesperson added that that if one of its marketing partners violates its rules, the company will take action, leaving the status of Amazon's relationship with CMG somewhat unclear.

Oh, and turn off Siri, except for when you prompt it.
Go to Settings -> Siri & Search -> Listen For, and turn it Off. It will still work when you press your side button. Your dictation microphone from your keyboard will still work, as well.
A warrantless FBI midnight raid.
Nothing surprises me any more.
A few years ago, my wife and I were driving somewhere. Her phone was on but not in use. We were talking about outdoor furniture, and I happened to mention that Adirondack chairs are more comfortable than they look. Hadn’t mentioned or even thought of Adirondack chairs for many years, never owned one. By the time we got home, there were several ads in our email for Adirondack chairs.
I know the feeling. People thought I was a nut too when I told them a computerized voting system is very susceptible to fraud.
I almost got involved with one of those companies over 20 years ago - a very high-level position
Frankly I probably should have found a way to make it happen though I had a good career for the next few years anyways
I don’t know what company it was but they were being purchased by another company out of Texas
Phone booths were neat no tracking no snooping nothing must be why they got rid of them.
Dr. Johnny Fever was right!
Yes he was!...................
I keep saying “Trump” and “Maga” over and over. I toss in a DeSantis or two, and a couple “drill baby, drill”. Think maybe they’ll offer me a new “Trump 2024” banner?
Is anyone here “shocked”?
I doubt it was coincidence.
We’ve been noticing that we get ads via email or on the computer about things that we talked about but had no intention of buying, not even looking them up.
You will be raided by the FIB at 3 am.............
If you search for a product on-line, you get advertising for weeks or months for that product. If you go someplace you oftentimes get advertising suggestions linked to products relative to that place.
My final two places of employment was with US Army Signal Battalion and Statement Department IMS; the briefings, or the classes I attended were enough for me to know you never take a phone anywhere classified.
It is more than simply allowing the enemy to hear you, once they know where you’ve been they know what agency you work for....
